I was in the Perth Hills with the kiddos, visiting Serpentine Falls, and we weren’t organised enough to bring a picnic along. When lunchtime rolled around, we visited a spot not too far away, in Byford. The Found Lab Brewery is right in the depths of Byford, amongst a new housing estate. The inviting brewery offers a spacious 200-seat venue featuring a bar, kitchen, and its own industrial sized beer tanks. For the kids there’s colouring in, a small sandpit and top-quality bites on the kid’s menu.
Found Lab has a greenhouse aesthetic. Lush, hanging indoor plants and floor-to-ceiling windows create a bright and airy atmosphere, as well as lakeside views. Whether you choose to sit indoors or in the dog-friendly outdoor area, you and your family are sure to feel right at home – there are good vibes aplenty!
Being a brewery, there’s top craft beer on tap (which Mr H was only too happy to sample). Plus, there’s plenty of non-alcoholic options.
Found Labโs kitchen serves up a delish menu of modern pub grub (including pizzas, fish n chips etc) and share dishes with a few exciting global twists. One standout option is the French dip sandwich (which we didn’t try, but it looks the business). The diverse menu ensures there’s something to please every palate. Mr H and I shared chorizo arancini and buttermilk fried chicken (both GF), which were both delicious – we’re STILL talking about how good that chicken is!
Parents will be pleased to know that Found Lab is family friendly. Kids are well-catered for with food options that are both yummy and made from quality ingredients. The JMan (9) loved the chicken bites and fries, which was basically the same as our tasty chicken. No crappy frozen nuggets here! Fish n chips, mini margaritas and spag bol are also on the kid’s menu.
To keep the little ones entertained, coloring and activity sheets are provided (as well as a few board games and toddler toys), ensuring they have just as much fun as the adults.
This kept us all busy at the table!
There’s a small, shaded sandpit for little ones. Parents of little escape artists might want to keep in mind the brewery is on a lake, but most of the outdoor areas do have fencing.
Plenty of highchairs are available, as well as very clean change facilities too.
Looking for the perfect spot to enjoy a casual pub lunch with your family? We’ve “Found” it! With its relaxed atmosphere, beautiful setting, and delicious food, Found Lab brewery is an excellent choice for families seeking top lunch experience in Perth’s South-East.
