If you’re looking for a family-friendly dining spot with year-round entertainment for the kids, The Wanneroo Tavern is a great option. This rustic, Australian-themed pub is a favourite amongst local families thanks to its thoughtful set-up that caters to both adults and children.
The tavern offers indoor and outdoor seating, but its biggest draw card for families is its large indoor playground. Enclosed behind glass walls, it allows parents to keep an eye on their kids while enjoying their meal.
There’s even a live video feed of the playground displayed on a screen in the dining area, adding an extra layer of visibility and peace of mind. However, I’d still recommend booking a table close to the playground if you have little ones who need additional supervision. Each time we have visited, the play area has become quite energetic with older kids, so I prefer to stay and play with my little ones to ensure they are safe and having fun.
The friendly staff have always offered my kids some colouring in as well, which is a great activity option at the table.
The food is classic, straightforward pub grub. It’s no frills but consistently generous in portion size, especially with the kids’ menu.
With rainy, colder months and hot summer temperatures, the Wanneroo Tavern is a great place to eat and play all year round.
