Driving into Dunsborough you can’t help but see the play area attached to the Dunsborough Tavern. We decided on our first day that it would be worth a visit based on this alone. The Dunsborough Tavern is located near the main shops in Dunsborough, so walking distance if you are near the town. We decided to head down on a Sunday afternoon, not realising it was their Sunday session. We walked across and we could hear the live music before we could see the Tavern. We loved seeing that the Sunday session was so popular with people enjoying the music, drinks, food and kids playing in the playground.
There was a lovely outdoor area with plenty of seating which is where the band was set up. We decided it was a little loud as the only table available was next to the band so we headed inside.
Inside was very roomy with both bar and restaurant seating options.
The play area is outside through glass doors, separated from the restaurant seating area by a glass window so you can watch the kids from your table. The play equipment is aimed at children who can play independently of you, so not really young ones. There are two entrances through tunnels which get you inside to climb and slide down. It was very popular with plenty of children having fun on it. My two are still young so had a little play in the tunnels at the bottom but couldn’t go up alone and it was a little tight for the adults to fit comfortably!
Whilst we didn’t get a chance to try the food on this visit we did see a few dishes being brought out and it looked delicious. The menu had a good selection of items at reasonable places and the daily specials looked worthwhile too! The menu offered a typical pub fare with a bit of a twist and is definitely on our list for our next visit to Dunsborough.
The kids menu offered 5 different meals all for a reasonable $10, including fish and chips, steak, fried chicken, a burger and toasties. There is even a kids choc mousse dessert option at the price of $4. Adults meals ranged from burgers, ribs, parmies, steaks to cauliflower risotto and vegetarian hippy burgers.
There are a range of events held at the tavern, these can be checked out online.
