Winter is glorious in the Perth Hills, in fact most of the year is. We’d been exploring in the Roleystone area, and dropped by one of my favourite pubs for lunch – The Last Drop Elizabethan. If you’re looking for a family-friendly spot in the hills where the kids can move and the grown-ups can chill for a moment, The Last Drop Elizabethan in Bedfordale is well worth the drive.

Kids of the 1980’s, like me, may recognise this spot from when it was part of the Elizabethan Village; a collection of faux-Tudor buldings that were replicas of William Shakesphere’s birthplace, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage etc etc. Most of these are now private residences, but the pub, and its brewery are still able to be visited. The pub has that relaxed, old-English village feel that makes it feel a little bit different to your usual Perth pub.

The big drawcard for families though? Space. And lots of it. Right out the front is the lovely open “village green” area, which gives kids plenty of room to stretch their legs and burn off some energy while you sit back and enjoy the atmosphere. There’s even a big tree perfect for climbing.

With its Tudor-style buildings and leafy surrounds, The Last Drop Elizabethan feels a bit like a mini escape from suburbia. Inside there’s a cosy dining room and beer mats adorn the rafters. The cute spot even smells like an old English put, which I love. If you know, you know.

The menu is pretty big, with plenty of pub favourites, leaning towards British food, like mini Yorkshire puddings with slow cooked meat – yum!

I usually find plenty of GF options and my go-to (we’ve been here many times) are the smash burger loaded fries – delicious.
For families, having easy, kid-friendly options always makes dining out smoother, and it means there’s a good chance everyone leaves happy. Miss M enjoyed the generous portion of fish n chips.

It’s handy to know this spot is also dog friendly.

The Lizzy, as the locals call it, works well for a casual family lunch, a get-together with grandparents (my parents love this spot), or even meeting friends. If you’ve got active little ones, that open grassy space is a big win. If your kids prefer a playground, you won’t find one here, but there is one just up the road at Churchmans Brook Dam.

So, if you’re after a Perth Hills pub with decent food, relaxed vibes and room for the kids to roam, The Last Drop Elizabethan is a solid family option. Sometimes all you really need is a kids menu, a patch of grass and a chance to enjoy a meal while the kids happily entertain themselves — and this spot delivers exactly that.
