Exbition | Panacea: The City’s Art Collection & COVID
Tuesday, 1 September to Sunday, 20 September, 10am to 5pm
Fremantle Arts Centre, 1 Finnerty Street, Fremantle

Panacea, from the Greek word meaning ‘a universal remedy’, is an invitation to our community to reflect and find, through their art collection, restorative and optimistic human moments during this time of international shock and disruption of COVID19.

FAC curators André Lipscombe and Ric Spencer present Panacea as a journey from the old normal, to lockdown and isolation, to re-emerging with an appreciation of our deep need for empathy, the panacea of the shared personal experience which helps creates an understanding of our own place in the world.

Panacea also demonstrates the value of an art collection to its community, telling interconnecting stories and creating empowering perspectives upon the time in which we live.

Panacea comprises 148 works by 70 artists selected from the City’s Art Collection and includes paintings, drawings, photography, ceramics, prints and video.

For the full list of exhibiting artists and for more information visit

Exhibition runs Sat 1 Aug – Sun 20 Sep | 10am – 5pm daily | Free entry

Community Yarn Bombers
Tuesday, 1 September, 9am to 12pm
Roleystone Family Centre, 19 Wygonda Road, Roleystone

An invite to community to gather once every 4 weeks for a social chit chat and crochet, knit or sew already existing pieces together. This is designed to be fun and stress free, with the end product being a community coming together to install yarn around the beautiful big trees at the Family Centre.
Kids are welcome to play in the playground and join in.

We have so much yarn already donated to the wonderful community along with knitting needles and crochet hooks. All we need now is community to show up and contribute (thank you those who already have). If you can’t make it, speak with us and we will put aside some yarn for you to collect and do at home.
‘Every’ single person who contributes will have a material tag on a long rope with their name on it….this will be hung amongst the trees to show and connect you to community as a way of saying thank you.

We also would also like to work on a ‘BLUE TREE’ for all our beautiful family friends and loved ones who have experienced mental health, whether that’s themselves, family member of others in the community …. this is for everyone to show we care and you matter ♥

Please share with anyone you think may like to help us make our community stand out!
