Love a little art? Take a wander with the kiddos down a few of the city’s laneways, and you’ll find a mountain of murals! Challenge the kids to find their favourite mural, or simply wander and see what catches everyone’s eye.

The city is stacked with over 100 fantastical, thought-provoking and stunning murals that transform an ordinary city walk into a mini urban adventure, with giant murals, splashes of colour and plenty to spot along the way.

Read on to find out the best places in the Perth CBD for a little street art:
Wolf Lane Street Art
Found between Hay and Murray Streets, Wolf Lane is a sort of giant outdoor gallery. There are murals in every direction. Here, the artwork feels playful and energetic, giving families a reason to look up and let little imaginations do the rest.

The kids loved the iconic fairytale wolf (which enjoyed a refresh by artist Steven Buckles in 2024), giant seahorse and more.

Grand Lane Street Art
Hidden between office towers and busy shopping strips, are big faces, bright animals, abstract patterns and larger-than-life walls. There’s a new patch of colour to check out in Perth’s heart. Wander down the unassuming Grand Lane, just off Murray Street Mall, and you’ll be greeted by three-story-high blooms! Head right to the end and you’ll see that they are shown from the perspective of a curious child looking through a magnifying glass – cute.

On the opposite wall, adorning the backs of Barrack Street shops, is a intricate mural by artist Yew Chong. This large mural shows a scene of Perth’s past, with a big green tram, and many whimsical details, like a grumpy coffee drinking cat and sweet quokka munching on a leaf.

Can you spot them?

Prince Lane Street Art
Down Prince Lane, towards Wellington Street, the murals depict the area’s history of the clothing industry, as well as the “prince” by renowned Perth street artist Stormie Mills.

Of course, there’s plenty more colour to spot in the city’s streets in hidden corners and unexpected places. If you’re looking for a free and surprisingly fun way to explore the city with kids, Perth CBD street art offers a colourful change of pace – free of charge!

It’s sure to inspire your own budding artists, and add a splash of colour to your day. Northbridge (especially Chinatown) and East Perth are also home to many murals.
