Banks Reserve is located in Mouth Lawley on the banks of the Swan River, the play space is bearly recognisable after an extensive redevelopment. The new nature-based playground has been cleverly designed around the huge preexisting trees which offer plenty of shade! The treehouse is definitely a firm favourite and features a spiral slide and climbing net, kids can even climb the fork of the tree. The sand-free playground (yay for no sandy shoes) also features; A small bucket swing. Balancing and stepping logs. Embanked slides. A metal climbing dome. Motorbike rocker. Banks Reserve also features a small skate park Read more…

Clarkson Reserve, Maylands Clarkson Reserve is a hidden gem in the leafy suburb of Maylands. It features a small nature playground, bike and scooter paths and gorgeous river views. On arriving, Miss 4 raced to the play area. This is mostly sand-based and features wooden balancing beams and flat logs to hop across. There is also a large birds nest swing surrounded by a wood chip base. This was a hit! Miss 4 kept going back to play here. The main feature of the playground, however, is the wooden play fort. Children can access this via a climbing wall Read more…

Grand Promenade Reserve, Bedford Grand Promenade Reserve is a leafy park in the City of Bayswater. It has a great sand-based playground with a mixture of equipment for a range of ages. If your child likes to climb, they’ll likely enjoy this playground. With ladders, a rope web and a small climbing wall, as well as a balancing beam course, there is lots to exercise little muscles. My Miss 4.5 was straight up the climbing wall and up a ladder made up of small platforms from the moment we arrived. When she wasn’t climbing, she was jumping off into Read more…

Close to the Peninsula Estate area of Maylands, a new playground has been built at De Lacey Reserve. This playground has something for younger and older kids alike. The first thing Miss 4 spotted was the flying fox. This has a small tower to launch from and sand beneath should someone slip off mid-ride. Miss 4 loved it! It was her favourite part of the playground. We found smaller kids will need help bringing it to the tower as it’s hard work without a bit of muscle. So parents, don’t be surprised if you get roped in for that job! Read more…

Hillcrest Park in Bayswater now has a new playground nestled on the edge of the oval between the Jamison-Frame Pavilion and the cricket practice cages. The first thing we noted at Hillcrest Park was the base is not sand. A definite plus if you don’t want sandy little feet in your car afterwards! Miss 4 went straight the platform stairs to then explore the top layer of the playground. This features a wooden bridge, twin slides, a bubble window and a “stained glass” window to peep through, and a steering wheel for imaginative play. One side of the structure features Read more…
