The City of Mandurah’s brand new Kwillena Gabi Pool, named by the traditional owners of Bindjareb Boodja, which means Dolphin Waters opened in late 2021. The only word I can think of to describe it is WOW!
Located at the Eastern Foreshore South Precinct, the circular pool created by floating pontoons in Mandurah’s iconic estuary is unlike anything else in Perth and it has been specifically designed with families in mind.
The pool is perfect for all ages, from my teen who towers over me (he couldn’t touch the ground at the deepest point) to the shallow beach entry water which is perfect for toddlers. Floaties, pool noodles and small blow-up boats are all welcome in the water.
Kwillena Gabi Pool is a natural swimming area and is not protected by a net/barrier, dolphins and other wildlife are known to frequent the pool.
When we visited, there were lifeguards on duty. However, it is important to remember you are responsible for your own and your family’s safety.
At night the Kwillena Gabi Pool even lights up at night!
At the time of this blog (January 2022), construction directly behind the pool continues to create a space that will be used for events, food trucks, and performances – I’m so hoping the City of Mandurah will also update the existing toilet block and include shower facilities.
