Hard Rock Hotel, Bali

If you’re looking for a family-friendly hotel in Bali, look no further than the Hard Rock Hotel.

When we first arrived we were hit with all the rock paraphernalia. The theme is strong and runs throughout the hotel which is quite fun. All the staff end conversations with “have a rocking day” and areas of the hotel that are staff only have signs saying “band members only”. It’s a little bit cheesy but great for a family holiday.

We stayed in a premium deluxe room which had two queen beds, a tv with plenty of movies available, tea and coffee facilities and a good sized bathroom with a large shower. There was a balcony but it was very tiny, I could only just fit one chair on it to read while the kids had a nap. Other than the balcony the room was perfect for us, as the kids get older we would spend the extra on the fantastic looking family rooms but we didn’t need that this time.

The pool is the highlight of the hotel. There’s a kids water park, which is where we spent most of our time. It was amazing. It’s based in a shallow pool so the kids could confidently walk and splash around in there by themselves. There are 4 slides, a tipping bucket, a mushroom and a tunnel of water sprinklers. The kids would happily play in here for hours!

Another pool area we spent a lot of time in was the shallow beach pool. Part of the pool has sand added to create a beach and a good section is really quite shallow. This was a great spot to play and splash about in. We also ended up here on a few evenings as the water park closes at 6pm but the rest of the pool is open until 9pm.

There’s also a couple of water slides that bigger kids can enjoy. They’re not huge but they are fast and still good fun.

The pool is huge and has lots of different areas including swim-up bar, chill out pool, private cabanas, and jacuzzi pools. The swim up bar is not just for adults, having plenty of options for kids including lollipops and milkshakes.

On the ground floor, there is a family courtyard with a playground, giant chess board and loads of fish that you can feed.

There’s a kids club available, which is located next to the family courtyard, from years 4 to 12 and, although we didn’t use the kids club, all the kids looked like they were having a great time and kept busy with plenty of fun activities.

There’s also a teen space which is available for all ages to enjoy but young children must be accompanied by parents. This was a great chill out space with PlayStation and Xbox consoles, pool table and foosball. Inside this area there’s also a baby/ toddler room which has been set up with baby toys and activities.

The teen club run activities on different nights of the week such as pyjama parties, movie nights and foam parties. We attended a foam party and it was lots of fun although in a fairly small area. Adults are able to supervise children without having to actually go into the foam so you can save a ticket price unless you’re keen to go in (like I was).

Breakfast was reasonable – a standard buffet breakfast with everything you would expect and we never had any complaints. There are a few restaurants within the hotel, including the Hard Rock Cafe, but we found the best value to be splash restaurant next to the pool.

There’s also a coffee shop in the hotel which sells some small baked goods and good coffee which we loved for an afternoon or light lunch. Jamie’s Italian is also next door and guests of Hard Rock Hotel receive a discount.

Other amenities and services include a day spa, a gym and a 24 hour medical centre.

Located just 15 minutes from the airport and in the heart of Kuta, we found this hotel to be in the perfect location. It was a very short walk to the beach, Kuta square or discovery beach walk shopping centre.

I would definitely recommend this hotel for families, the staff were so friendly and went out of their way to be accommodating. There’s enough within the hotel to keep everyone entertained without having to leave at all but it’s also close to all the action when you do feel like venturing out.
