Love ice cream? Then you will love this hidden gem!!
Elski Danish Ice Creamery is located on Dunn Bay Road, in the heart of Dunsborough.
‘Elsk is’ means ‘love ice cream’ in Danish. And it is clear from the delightful ice cream made here that they LOVE ice cream. They use natural and local ingredients to make traditional, and some not so traditional flavours on site, for their ever-changing menu. The menu is inspired by Australian seasons, Italian gelato traditions and a Danish approach to quality.
Ice cream and sorbet options are available in a cone or tub as a single, double or triple!
Non-dairy, vegan and gluten free options are available. They also offer speciality coffee and milkshakes.
We visited on a weekday and were served quickly and able to sit inside at the small window seating area. There is another small seating area outside.
I opted for the Nougatis ice cream in a cone which I can highly recommend, topped with delicious Berry Guf. Guf is a Danish topping – a soft, silky, sticky, sweet meringue (like marshmallow fluff) which is always available at the ice creamery.
Both of my girls opted for rød grød med fløde (Danish strawberries and cream) in a tub with berry guf and they were very happy.
My husband enjoyed rocky road in a cone with grated raw liquorice salt which I have never seen before. The liquorice salt is available for purchase to take home. It is recommended for its quality of enhancing the flavour of desserts.
The ice creamery has a small stock of gifts and local items including Bahen & Co local chocolate which is used in the milk chocolate ice cream. We purchased a 500ml tub of the milk chocolate ice cream to take home for one of our teenagers who had stayed at home. He enjoyed the ice cream and it was nice to be able to take him something home so that he did not miss out. Take home tubs come in 500ml and 1000ml sizes in compostable packaging. Gift cards are also available.

I like the Danish style in the ice creamery including the décor and furnishings. It is well thought out and staff are really friendly.

I loved the slightly retro looking Pozzetti style tubs which keep ice cream at the perfect temperature and look great too.
The current Winter open hours are Sunday to Thursday 12-4.30pm and Friday and Saturday 12-8.30pm. The ice creamery has been closed during June while they make some improvements but reopens in July in time for the school holidays. Make sure to check their social media pages for updated opening hours as they do open longer during the warmer months.
