Crystal People | Joondalup Festival 2026
Thereโs something hauntingly beautiful unfolding on the lakes at Sir James McCusker Park – 52 crystalline human figures rising from the water, swaying with the wind and shifting with the light. Crystal People is a meditation on community, transformation and our connection to the elements, brought to life by French theatrical company Ilotopie. These larger-than-life luminescent sculptures aren’t static installations โ they’re living, breathing presences that respond to their environment. Throughout the day, these figures play with seasonal light and shadow, their forms shifting and multiplying in the water’s reflection. They charge themselves with solar energy, becoming gloriously luminescent as twilight falls, creating an entirely different experience after dark. Crystal People invites you to witness the grace of air, water and light giving life to these human imprints. This is installation art that speaks to our shared humanity, our relationship with nature and the importance of living in harmony with the elements. Whether you visit during your morning walk, pause during lunch or return as the sun sets to see them glow, each encounter offers something new. Crystal People transforms your local park into a space of wonder and meaning. For 16 magical days, Joondalup becomes home to these ethereal beings that remind us we’re connected to something bigger than ourselves. More information

Acqua Forte Parade | Joondalup Festival 2026
Acqua Forte Parade transforms Hillarys Boat Harbour into a shimmering realm of fire, light and dreamlike wonder. Created by acclaimed French theatrical innovators Ilotopie, this spectacular water parade unfolds across a 200-metre stretch of harbour, turning the water itself into a living stage. From one end of the harbour, two tourists appear in a small car, sputtering over the shallows as they search for their way. At the other, a dreamer glides across the surface on a giant bed, rowing toward destinations unknown. At the heart of the journey, horns blare, a collision occurs and a flurry of feathers erupts, transforming the harbour into an imaginary world. As darkness falls, fantastical beings emerge, mysterious riders atop strange camel-horses, a magnificent dragon and its fearless tamer, fire-bearing scouts lighting the way, ethereal muses of fire and water, otherworldly elven creatures and a king accompanied by his devoted fool. A floating car with two intrepid passengers and two specially designed props created exclusively for Joondalup Festival complete the spectacle. All are brought to life through glowing, self-illuminated costumes and evocative soundscapes. Find your place along the waterfront, feel the warmth of fire reflected on the water, hear musical chants drift across the harbour and be transported to a world where the impossible becomes gloriously real. Acqua Forte Parade is a fully immersive theatrical experience, a fleeting realm where reality softens and imagination takes over. For four unforgettable nights, Hillarys Boat Harbour becomes a luminous, fire-lit theatre of wonder. More information

Mamma Mia! Immersive | Joondalup Festival 2026
A wild, interactive screening of Mamma Mia, turning movie night into a full-blown party! Here’s the thing about regular movie screenings: they’re just a bit too… quiet. Too orderly. Too sensible. So, weโve turned the beloved Mamma Mia movie musical into a loud, joyful, fully immersive cinema party hosted by the fabulous entertainers from Tone & Cheek. Expect the film on the big screen, shadow dancers performing the iconic moves live, drag queens leading conga lines and the audience singing ABBA classics at full volume. The entire theatre becoming one glorious Greek island celebration.โฏ Whether youโre a die-hard fan or just here for the sing-along, this is cinema at its most fun – interactive, outrageous and overflowing with joy. Grab your friends, pre-order a pizza or BYO food, visit the licensed bar and get ready to sing, dance and party. More information

Common People Dance Eisteddfod | Joondalup Festival 2026
It’s the dance battle youโve been waiting all year for; Common People Dance Eisteddfod is back to kick off Joondalup Festival 2026 with spectacular energy. Four mighty teams from all walks of life will slog it out in community halls across 6 weeks, perfecting their routines, bedazzling their costumes and preparing for the ultimate showdown. These are your neighbours, your colleagues, your friends, maybe even your family members, everyday people transformed into stars on the big stage, ready to jazz-slide, body-roll and high-kick their way into glory.โฏ This “friendly” competition features soundtracks packed with your favourite ’80s and ’90s bangers, choreography that’ll make you want to leap out of your seat and join in and enough glitter to be seen from space. All bets are off because cheating is condoned, sabotage is allowed and bribing the judges is actively encouraged (by the judges themselves!). โฏ Who will claim the precious trophy and all the glory? The Legwarmers? The Hightop Crew? The Boombox Brigade? Or Perm Power? Only the biggest moves, loudest cheers and most spectacular performances on the night will decide.โฏ So warm up those hair rollers, hitch up your legwarmers, polish your dancing shoes and get ready to cheer until you’re hoarse. Four teams. One trophy. Unlimited glory. Let the games begin!โฏ Registrations are currently open to join one of our dance teams! Sign up here by 4 February 2026. More information
