From the moment we pulled up to the front entrance at Pan Pacific Perth, we were all super excited to start our city stay – from the adults to the three kiddos. We’d actually surprised the kids, telling them we were visiting family in the south west, then pulling off the freeway, after an easy 20-minute drive and parking right out the front of the Perth hotel. To say the kids were thrilled was an understatement!

Set on Adelaide Terrace, the five-star hotel has that sweet-spot location that works brilliantly for a weekend in Perth. You’re close enough to the CBD to make the most of the city, but removed enough that it feels calm rather than chaotic.

It’s an ideal base for families wanting a fuss-free escape, whether that means exploring the city, nearby riverside spots, or popping on that fluffy bath robe and relaxing in your hotel room.

Currently, June- July 2026, there is a great Family Escape Offer from Pan Pacific that includes the accommodation type of your choice, with daily breakfast for up to 2 adults and 2 children, bespoke children’s welcome amenities featuring Pan Pan Lamb Plush Toy and Pan Pan’s Big Balloon Adventure storybook, complimentary accommodation for children and a late 2pm check-out.

This was our first stay at Pan Pacific – one of the city’s most celebrated hotels. It promises what many families crave from a city break: a little bit of luxury, a lot of ease and none of the stiffness that can sometimes come with five-star hotels. The kids, Lulu (9), JMan (11) and Miss M (13) were extra excited for their very first stay in a city hotel, not to mention Mr H and I.

Pan Pacific Perth – The Greeting
Valet parking made coming and going simple, particularly when travelling with children. No frazzled unloading or carting multiple suitcases long distances. Our overnight bags were wheeled into the grand marble foyer, and the welcome at reception was warm. After an easy check-in, we eagerly hopped in the lift to our fifth-floor rooms.

After a busy week for all of us, a change of scenery was exactly the reset we were after. In the rooms, we were greeted by a handwritten note and afternoon tea. The kids were tickled pink to be gifted their own soft toy and accompanying storybook. Waiting in the room was a ‘Pan Pan’ lamb for each child, along with a storybook following Pan Pan’s adventures, which Lulu especially loved. It was such a thoughtful detail that made the children feel welcomed, rather than simply accommodated.

Pan Pacific Perth – The Rooms
We stayed in two interconnected rooms, a Pacific Club King Room with spa bath and the kids next door in a Pacific Club Suite. For a family of five, this configuration was perfect for everyone to have their own space to relax. There was room to spread out, and importantly room for the adults to retain a little semblance of holiday calm.

Mr H and I loved our river-view room, which seemed far bigger than your average hotel space; zones for relaxing with a book, making a coffee, sleeping, working (though I shouldn’t have been!), plus one of the biggest ensuites I have ever seen. There was an oversized shower and relaxing spa bath to soak in.

The rooms themselves are super relaxing, with soft finishes, a soothing colour palette and comfortable king beds. The kids enjoyed a bubble bath in the vast bathroom, donned the fluffy robes and set about reading the storybook.

The girls had so much space sharing the king bed, while JMan was set with a comfy trundle bed in the separate lounge. He was very happy to have his own space, complete with a big TV. And the sofas were handy for a few uno games too.

That family-friendly spirit carried right through the stay. Pan Pacific Perth strikes a balance: it delivers the polish you expect from a chic city hotel, but with a gentler, welcoming tone that makes travelling with children feel easy rather than apologetic.

If you’ve forgotten something? It always happens; this time it was the toothbrushes, but luckily, there were toothbrushes, toothpaste, shower caps, vanity kits with cotton buds, and all the usual quality shampoos and shower gels on hand. Everything has been thought of for a comfortable stay. It’s even easy to cast to the TVs and connect to the free wifi.

Pan Pacific Perth – Family Friendly Dining
There are many dining options at Pan Pacific Perth. From bountiful breakfast buffets at Monty’s Restaurant to the award-winning Peruvian restaurant UMA, the cosy Mas Vino wine bar and the casual Hill Street Bar – or you can even stay in that fluffy robe and order room service.

Breakfast at Monty’s Restaurant was a highlight for everyone. The promise of a buffet breakfast got the kids extra excited, and this spot has all the ingredients for a delicious start to the day. Fresh fruit, cereals, pastries, make your own bagels, a fresh omelet and egg station manned by a chef, plus all the hot brekkie favourites were found around the large breakfast buffet. Miss M even got adventurous and tried dragon fruit for the first time.

For dinner, we ate at the hotel’s Hill Street Bar. The lively bar is perfect for kids, with a relaxed atmosphere and pub-style dishes on the menu. Everyone was well catered for and left with full, happy tummies. If you have adventurous, older kids in tow, I’d also recommend UMA. I dined there with my son a few years ago, who loved trying the South American cuisine, UMA offers a separate kids’ menu on request. As part of staying in a club room, we had access to the complimentary food and drinks in the plush Pacific Club Lounge. Kids under 12 are not permitted in here, so some parents may appreciate a little moment being kid-free. I snuck in here for a little morning peace over a juice, brownie and herbal tea. Other hotel facilities include a fully equipped gym and outdoor heated pool area, which is currently being renovated – exciting.

Pan Pacific Perth – To Do Nearby
When we weren’t relaxing in our room, we all took an easy walk down to the nearby Swan River. At the end of the hotel’s street, the kids ran off steam on the grassy Langley Park, where there’s also a fenced playground.

It’s easy to stroll into Elizabeth Quay, or even hop on a free bus up the terrace, from the hotel. We wandered up London Court, through the malls, stopping for shopping, treats and a little street art through Wolf Lane and Grand Lane – it’s a brilliant free activity.

Family activities in the city include trips to Escape This, Palace Cinemas, and Strike Bowling. One of my favourite spots, Perth Mint, is a 2-minute walk from Pan Pacific.

When we returned from exploring, the kids were excited to find a sweet afternoon tea in their room.

Pan Pacific Perth – All in All
By the end of our weekend away, we’d enjoyed slow breakfasts, cosy downtime in the rooms, kids happily attached to their Pan Pan lambs and parents enjoying the rare luxury of not having to organise everything. When it came time to leave, it was done reluctantly – thank goodness for late check-out! For a Perth weekend staycation or an easy city break with kids, Pan Pac delivers an experience where everyone feels looked after. If you’re considering a city stay, but not sure which hotel to book, I can thoroughly recommend Pan Pacific Perth.

Pan Pacific Perth gets the essentials so right: comfortable rooms, thoughtful service, a convenient city location and enough warmth to make everyone – from parents to little ones – feel right at home.

What were the kids favourite things? Lulu’s was Pan Pan, JMan loved the buffet breakfasts (particularly the cinnamon toasts).

Miss M loved everything, even leaving a sweet (and unprompted) thank you note.

There are many good reasons to take a break close to home: less travel time, the chance to enjoy exciting city events, or to simply be a tourist in our own beautiful city. If the true mark of a successful family stay is hearing, “Can we come back?” before you’ve even driven away, then Pan Pacific Perth absolutely nailed it.
