Looking at ways to sizzle up your family meal time? Why don’t you bring the family down to Pepper Lunch and try out their Do-It-Yourself Teppan? With 3 different locations located at Perth, Victoria Park and Willetton; this popular Japanese restaurant franchise offers a unique concept of fast, sizzling steaks on the table.
We headed to the Willetton restaurant over the school holidays as a little treat for the girls. It was easy to order on their self-served machine where you can choose to customise your food orders.
You will be spoilt for choices as they offer not only their sizzling steaks and pepper rice, but also pasta, curries and even salad! Their menu is vegetarian friendly and there are vegan options, however there is no kids’ menu.
Missy 9 ordered the Signature Classic Beef Pepper Rice while I shared the Sizzling Teriyaki Salmon with Missy 6.
Our orders came very quickly on their sizzling hot cast iron pan. The staff reminded the girls to be extra cautious as the pan is very hot and to avoid touching it. There is a paper lining around the hot pan so that you don’t accidently touch it while cooking which is great!
Now, the fun begins! Sauces are on the table for you to add to the food and watch it sizzle on the hot pan! The sauces add that extra saltiness and garlic flavor to the dishes.
Missy 9 had no trouble doing it herself, mixing the rice and cooking her beef on the hot pan. The Classic Beef Pepper Rice was buttery and peppery, topped with just enough beef slices.
The Sizzling Teriyaki Salmon with Rice came with the salmon already cooked in the kitchen. So, Missy 6 cooked the vegetables with the sauces instead. She loved the sizzling so much that she kept wanting to add more sauces to it.
Overall, it was a decent meal, simple yet delicious. It was definitely a novelty experience for the girls, and they really enjoyed the cooking and sizzling.
The restaurant is family friendly with baby chairs available and a toilet inside the shop. It is conveniently located just outside of Southlands Boulevarde Shopping Centre with ample of parking.
