Toodyay Miniature Railway

The historic town of Toodyay is situated in the Wheatbelt region of the Avon Valley, 85 kilometres north-east of Perth. It is one of our favourite places for a family day trip being a one hour’s picturesque drive from the city of Perth. The Toodyay Miniature Railway is very popular with little ones.

If you plan your visit to Toodyay on the 1st or 3rd Sunday of the month you will find the Toodyay Miniature Railway running between 11.00am – 3.00pm at Duidgee Park which is on the banks of the River Avon. This is great fun and the girls loved it.

They have several trains which include petrol engines, electric and a coal fire steam locomotive. If you wish to ride the steam train you need to visit earlier in the day as she stops running in the final hour.  The 10 minute train ride takes you alongside the river where you will go through tunnels and over bridges.

If you keep your eyes peeled you may even spot the resident kangaroos and Shawn the Sheep! The miniature railway is operated by volunteers from the hobby club who are all very friendly and great with the kids. Next to the Miniature Railway is a skate park and playground.

The playground consists of train themed play equipment suitable for younger children plus low level monkey bars, see-saw and swings.
