Thereโs nothing quite like the rush of flying through the air with the kids shrieking beside you โ all while safely clipped into a harness. Around Perth and across WA there are brilliant zip line and high ropes courses that combine fresh air, exercise and confidence building in one big day out. From urban adventures over the Swan River to forest canopy courses in the South West, thereโs something to suit everyone from cautious first-timers to fearless teens.
Ziplining in the Perth Metro Area
Matagarup Bridge Zip+Climb, East Perth / Burswood
If your family loves a serious adrenaline hit, Matagarup Bridge Zip+Climb is one of Perthโs most spectacular experiences. Youโll climb 314 steps up the dramatic white arches of the bridge, some at a steep 45-degree angle, squeezing past beams to reach the Skyview Deck about 72 metres above the Swan River. From up here the views across the city, Optus Stadium and the river are incredible.
Once everyone has caught their breath and taken a few photos, itโs time for the main event: a 400-metre zip line that launches from underneath the bridge and sends you flying across the river at up to around 75km/h to land on the opposite bank. There are several ticket types such as Zip+Climb, Express Zip, daytime and twilight/night sessions, so you can pick the level of adventure (and budget) that suits your family. The minimum age is 8 years, with height and weight limits, and younger kids must be accompanied by an adult, so itโs ideal for older primary kids, tweens and teens rather than little ones. Sessions regularly book out, especially on weekends and in school holidays, so advance booking is essential.

Treetops Adventure, Yanchep
Set in the gorgeous bushland of Yanchep National Park, Treetops Adventure Yanchep is a brilliant full-body workout disguised as fun. Families make their way around a network of tree-top courses with wobbling wooden bridges, swinging logs, cargo nets and lots of ziplines. According to the official site there are over 70โ80 aerial challenges and 16 ziplines spread across multiple levels, from junior courses just above the ground to expert-level obstacles up to around 10 metres high in the trees.
Sessions last about 2.5 hours, giving kids plenty of time to grow in confidence as they tackle more challenging elements. The courses are graded by age, reach height and difficulty, with specific supervision rules for younger climbers, so you can choose something that feels stretching but achievable for each child. National Park entry fees apply on top of your climbing ticket, but that also means you can make a full day of it with a picnic, a wander around the park and some wildlife spotting โ kangaroos are often lounging around nearby.

Swan Valley Adventure Centre, Middle Swan
Swan Valley Adventure Centre sprawls across 90 acres of bush in Middle Swan and is set up for school camps, church and community groups, corporate groups and family visitors. As well as tailored programs for pre-booked groups, Swan Valley Adventure Centre also runs school holiday programs and special adventure days for the whole family. These sessions are ideal if youโre looking for a structured way to get the kids outdoors and off screens in the holidays, with a mix of activities guided by qualified instructors. The Climb Zone, Bullsbrook
The Climb Zone in Bullsbrook is a fantastic option for families who like a more rustic, camp-style high ropes experience. Set among the trees near Kerem Adventure Camp, it offers a mix of high ropes, low ropes, a climbing wall, and a big zip line thatโs often the only way down once youโve conquered the top.
Sessions are generally offered during school holidays and on selected dates, and numbers are capped so that kids get plenty of turns. Friendly instructors help children (and adults) build confidence step by step, and thereโs usually time to relax with a picnic while the kids burn off energy overhead. Closed-in shoes are a must, and the minimum age is typically around 8 years for the high ropes course, so itโs ideal for older primary-school kids and up.

Bounce Inc, Joondalup
While Bounce Joondalup doesnโt have a traditional zipline, it does feature a Sky-High style ropes and obstacle course suspended above the trampolines that feels very similar in terms of challenge and excitement. Kids balance along beams, clamber through suspended elements and navigate various obstacles several metres above the ground, all while securely harnessed.
This is a great wet-weather option as itโs fully indoors and can be combined with trampolining, the X-Park adventure challenge course and the cliff jump. Different areas have height requirements, so smaller children may be limited to the junior zones while bigger kids and teens can take on the higher challenges. Sessions are typically sold in one- or two-hour blocks, and grip socks are required.

Forest Adventures South West, near Busselton

Over a 2.5-hour session you can tackle up to six different courses featuring around 70โ80 challenges, from low, family-friendly routes to seriously high platforms.

Planning tips for zip line and high ropes days
For all of these adventures, plan ahead. Most operators recommend โ and often require โ online bookings, especially on weekends and in school holidays. Age, height and weight limits are strictly enforced for safety, and younger children usually need a supervising adult either climbing with them or watching from the ground.
Comfortable clothes, enclosed shoes and hair tied back make a big difference to how easy the day feels, and itโs wise to bring water, snacks and a change of clothes for kids who might get muddy or sweaty. For parks inside national parks or reserves, remember there may be separate vehicle entry fees on top of your climbing tickets.
Whether youโre soaring over the Swan River, weaving through jarrah trees in Dwellingup or flying across a lake in Dunsborough, these zip line and high ropes courses are an unforgettable way to get the whole family outside, active and a little bit brave together.
