Do you have little rev heads that love cars? Be sure to take a drive to the brilliant York Motor Museum. Located in the historic Avon Valley town of York, this museum offers a unique experience for car enthusiasts and history buffs alike, with cars from almost every decade.
The York Motor Museumโs impressive collection of vintage cars shows the evolution of cars over the years, as well as including a few quirky and famous cars. There’s a car used in the Crocodile Dundee movie (with the dash signed by Paul Hogan) and this very unique police car!
As you step through its doors, from Yorkโs main street Avon Terrace, you are transported back in time to an era when cars were more than just a vehicle to get you from A to B; they were symbols of innovation and style.
The museum is an Aladdinโs cave of classic cars. One of the highlights of the museum are rare and iconic models from different eras. From the sleek curves of the 1930s to the muscle cars of the 1960s, each vehicle tells a story. You’ll find well-preserved Ford Model Ts, elegant Porche roadsters (my favourite), to vintage Morris Minors, VW Beetles, Chevrolets, and much more.
The museum’s knowledgeable staff are always on hand to share interesting stories and answer any questions you might have about the cars. While the cars steal the spotlight, the museum also features an impressive collection of vintage motorcycles, vintage toy cars, retro caravan and mechanic memorabilia with vintage gas pumps, and signs. Be sure to check out the one-off lego set of the museum too.
A visit to the York Motor Museum is an excellent excuse to explore the country town of York itself. With its well-preserved architecture, charming cafes, and friendly locals, York offers a lovely spot to day trip. The York Motor Museum is a great place to take a trip down memory lane – just be sure that kids look and don’t touch!
