If you’re looking for something to keep the kids entertained these school holidays, Ready, Set, RIDE! is a fantastic new indoor event that’s well worth a visit. Held at the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre, it’s packed with carnival rides, games, showbags and plenty of treats, all under one roof, making it the perfect option for those chilly winter days.
One of the biggest highlights is the ticketing system. Instead of paying for individual rides, you book a two-hour session and enjoy unlimited rides for the entire time. It takes away the constant “Can I have another ride?” negotiations, and the kids can simply jump back in the queue for their favourites as many times as they like. It also makes it much easier to budget before you even arrive.
There’s a great mix of rides for all ages. Younger children will love rides like Jurassic Temple, Taxi Jets and the classic Cup & Saucer, while older kids and teens will be heading straight for thrill rides like Dodgem Drift 2, Dream Swinger and Storm. With unlimited rides included in your session, everyone can ride their favourites as many times as they like without having to think about buying extra tickets.
Even better, the unlimited pass also includes the arcade games! From racing simulators and shooting games to race cars, pinball machines and dance challenges, there’s something to keep everyone entertained between rides.
Beyond the rides, there are plenty of classic sideshow games. My kids were obsessed with the water bowls, but all the carnival favourites are there, including the fishing pool, rabbit shooting gallery, laughing clowns, Pick-a-Box and Lucky Numbers. Tokens for the sideshow games are $8 each, or you can purchase token packages for better value. These tokens can also be used on rides for spectators accompanying younger children who don’t have an unlimited ride wristband.
Adding to the carnival atmosphere are showbags, fairy floss, popcorn, roving performers and a live DJ, creating a fun vibe throughout the entire event.
The PCEC café is also open inside the venue, serving coffee, hot food and drinks, with plenty of seating available if you need to take a break between rides.
We found the two-hour session to be just the right amount of time. It gave us enough opportunity to experience all our favourite rides, play a few games and enjoy some snacks without feeling rushed or exhausted. The timed sessions also help manage crowd numbers, making the experience feel organised and enjoyable.
