Pemberton Farm Chalets is one of my new favourite places to take the kids for a long weekend away in WA. I have many favourites of course, but this one tops them as it ticks all the boxes for an easy and fun family holiday. Now our kids can have a very good time no matter where we go including rough camping in a forest with no playgrounds, swimming pools, trampolines, toilets, etc.. but sometimes it’s nice to go somewhere that has just about everything to completely exhaust the kids. We booked Pemberton Farm Chalets for a 4-day break in August with two other families.
The kids love animals, and the farm offers a good variety to keep them happy with horses, donkeys, rams, sheep, lamas, Peter the pig, chickens, farm dogs, birds, ducks, kangaroos, rabbits and guinea pigs.
The animals are kept all around the farm with the main attractions being the rabbits (and baby rabbits) and guinea pigs in the pens within the undercover play area. The kids could go into the enclosures whenever they wanted to pet and feed them carrots, bought from the farm reception for $2 a bag. The kids named each of the rabbits and they each had a favourite to care for. The rest of the animals are in separate fields, and you can happily feed them scraps and pet them whenever you want.
Scooters, bikes and ride on toys are also available in the kids play room, for FREE!
The Farm has many other facilities including an enclosed swimming pool with shade sails and sun loungers, as well as a tennis court which we didn’t get to use on this occasion as it was too cold!
There’s the main playground area with wooden fort like structures, bridges, swings and slide. There is a separate flying fox, but it was quite rusted when we used it. For toddlers, there’s a small area with plastic play equipment and slides. Beside the playground is an old speedboat which the kids loved jumping into and pretending to go fishing!
The kids spent a lot of their time on the large and small enclosed trampolines that are scattered around the farm.
One thing we loved about Pemberton Farm Chalets was the retro converted caravan in the playground where the kids could enjoy fantasy play. There were a few keyboards in the caravan and kitchen play equipment to keep them busy for hours.
Lastly, the undercover play area was a big hit with the older kids in the group. We played pool, foosball, table tennis and even lounged around on the sofas in the area watching the kids play.
The chalets are comfortable and offer fantastic views of the valley and surrounding fields. They have open log fires, and the kids loved helping us collect wood for the fire and toasting marshmallows (and my feet) in the evenings.
Pemberton Farm Chalets all have bunk beds for the kids, side lamps, spa bath, shower, TV, DVD and fridge freezer. Each chalet has its own private veranda complete with chairs and a gas BBQ. There are laundry facilities in a separate block.
We enjoyed ourselves so much that we’re going to book early Summer time again so we can use the swimming pool and explore the mountain bike and walking trails around Pemberton.
