Life can be so hectic for us all, so spending time as a family in nature can bring peace and solitude to our lives. As well as an appreciation for the small things in life!
Located just over 100kms south of Perth lies Marrinup Falls Wall, a picturesque family-friendly hike just outside of the little town of Dwellingup.
To arrive at Marrinup Falls Walk, you will travel down a gravel road once you get off the main road. You do not require a 4wd but bare this in mind and take your time as the track is quite narrow.
Best viewed in our winter months (June to September) when the waters are flowing, the waterfalls were a great way to add nature play into our day as we raced sticks, threw stones and even got our toes wet!
However, if you’re around the area after the rainy season has passed, then it will still be worth your time as you view the wildflowers, build stone towers and appreciate the surrounding scenery and wildlife.
The Marrinup Falls Walk Trial is a 1.4km loop graded at level three, but with plenty of spaces to stop and enjoy the views and nature, it really was an enjoyable walk for us all. I did however notice that the map at the car park was not that clear but we found the track very obvious on where to walk. I will also note that if you have little legs joining you, then bring a baby carrier along as the track is not designed for prams.
A hot tip for enjoying this track is to be prepared with anything you need, as there are no facilities at all. This includes toilets, cooking facilities, water and food. The closest place nearby is Dwellingup a few kilometres down the road, but as Dwellingup is a small town they may not have everything you need. But be sure to stop in, as this small town also has plenty to offer!
