If you’ve ducked into Woolies at the Banksia Grove Shopping Centre recently, you’ll have probably noticed a new play area near the entrance. The bright and colourful play space has something to amuse most kids. The first thing we noticed was the slide. The ladder for this is built inside what looks like colourful metal crates. There is a rope net in the bottom and mid-level to climb over to get to the ladder. Littler children may need some assistance to climb up, as we found Miss 3.5 did. Banksia Grove Nature Playground is a small nature-based playground located between Dragonfly Road and Potoroo Street on the Eastern Side of Banksia Grove. The wooden play equipment is perfect for helping children with balance, coordination and confidence. The equipment features balance posts with rope, twisted net, shaky bridge, balancing beam and a little wooden table with posts for chairs. In addition to the nature-based play equipment is a tripod swing – a favourite with my children as they can all fit on together and being a smaller park there wasn’t a wait to get on. Banksia Grove Nature Playground does Read more…

Located on Pulchella Ramble is a perfect toddler friendly playground. It is fully fenced, which is perfect to stop the little ones escaping. There is a variety of play equipment for the little ones to crawl/walk over, rock on, slide down, swing on etc. As a mum of a 10 month old, my highlight was the bucket swing! There are shade sails above the playground as well as trees for plenty of shade. Located outside the gated area is two picnic tables and seating, as well as BBQs. The playground overlooks a large grassed area, perfect for kicking a ball Read more…

Pitstop Playground is located at Discovery Park, Banksia Grove and it’s pretty special – in fact I’ve not seen anything like it! The central theme of Pitstop Playgrounds, if you haven’t already guessed it, is racing. It has a great racing track that twists and turns around the park complete with Pitstop area where you can chalk your names up on the blackboards and race each other. So if you are planning on visiting don’t forget your bike or scooters, however, do keep an eye on them as we have heard reports already of scooters going missing. Miss 4 had Read more…
