If you’ve ever dreamed of stepping into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience is a magical night out that brings a little piece of Hogwarts to the Perth Hills. No Platform 9¾ required.

Located at Jorgensen Park in Kalamunda, this after-dark woodland trail combines lights, sounds, magical creatures and interactive experiences to create an immersive adventure for witches, wizards and Muggles of all ages.

As you follow the illuminated forest path, you’ll encounter magical creatures and moments inspired by the Harry Potter stories, cast spells with your wand and discover surprises hidden amongst the trees. The atmosphere is fantastic, with the natural bush setting making it feel like you’ve genuinely stepped into the Forbidden Forest itself.

My boys loved the interactive elements, with their favourite being the wand duel where they could battle it out to see who had the strongest magic. There are plenty of opportunities throughout the trail to wave your wand, interact with displays and stop for magical family photos.

The trail itself is an easy loop that takes around 60–90 minutes to complete, depending on how many photos you take and how long you spend exploring each interactive station.

The Village sits at both the beginning and end of the trail and is much more than just an entry point. With plenty of seating, ambient lighting, magical music and a cosy atmosphere, it’s the perfect place to arrive early or linger after your adventure. There are several food trucks offering a variety of meal options, the venue is licensed for the adults and, yes, you can even enjoy a Butterbeer while you’re there.

For an extra touch of magic, marshmallow roasting kits are available to purchase and enjoy around the fire pit.

A quick parent tip: if anyone needs a toilet break, The Village is the place to do it! The portable toilets here were plentiful and much nicer than I was expecting for an outdoor event. Even Moaning Myrtle would approve.
Another tip: dress for the weather. The experience takes place outdoors along a bushland trail, so comfortable enclosed walking shoes are strongly recommended. Evenings in the Perth Hills can be significantly cooler than the city, so I’d suggest bringing a warm jacket or extra layers and an umbrella. The experience goes ahead rain or shine, so don’t let a little wet weather stop you from answering the call of Hogwarts.

General parking is available at S&R Orchard, with shuttle buses transporting guests to and from the experience. Parking costs $16 per vehicle when booked online in advance and includes return shuttle transfers. The shuttle ride takes around 15 minutes each way, so I’d recommend allowing a little extra time before your session. Accessible parking is available onsite for those who require it.
Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience runs from 12 June to 12 July 2026. Tickets start from $52 per person, with family ticket bundles available. If you’d like to take a little bit of magic home with you, there’s also a gift shop stocked with Harry Potter merchandise.

As Dumbledore wisely said, “Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” This enchanting experience does exactly that, transforming the Perth Hills into a spellbinding adventure the whole family will enjoy.
