Looking for a unique family outing this summer? Crystal Cave in Yanchep National Park is an absolute must-visit! Just under an hour’s drive from Perth, this hidden gem offers a refreshing escape from the heat—and an unforgettable underground adventure.

Our little family of four (with a toddler and a baby in tow) couldn’t have been more thrilled. With the baby snug in a carrier, we stepped out of the summer sun and into the cool, crisp 18°C cave. It felt like walking into a giant natural fridge—heavenly after the heat outside!

The 45-minute guided tour takes you through a fascinating loop of stalactites, stalagmites, and other mesmerizing formations. Our guide was full of fun facts, answering every curious question and pointing out details we’d have missed otherwise. The highlight? Snapping some incredible photos of this natural phenomenon.

A few tips: wear comfy shoes and watch your head (especially with a toddler prone to darting about). While tickets aren’t sold at the cave entrance, booking online is super easy, and you can pair your tour with a day pass or an annual pass if you plan to return.

The park has excellent facilities, including a gift shop, café, toilets and picnic spots. While we stuck to the caves this time, there are bushwalking trails if you want to make a day of it. Maybe you’ll see some kangaroos on your way to the cave.

Crystal Cave is more than a tour; it’s an adventure your family will treasure. Pack your water bottles, grab your tickets in advance, and enjoy a cool, magical journey underground!
