Cockburn Ice Arena, with its state of the art facilities, is WA’s newest ice rink and the only twin ice skating rink arena.

The Olympic sized general ice skating rink is where the general ice skating sessions take place, which usually runs in two-hour sessions throughout the day. General skating sessions are $22 for adults, $20 for children aged 5 -17 years and $13 (including skate hire) for toddlers aged 3-4 years. Skate hire is $5 for regular skates or $10 for platinum skates which are the lace-up style.

Some sessions include a live DJ or when there is no DJ present, you can pick your favourite music using the interactive in-venue CrowdDJ kiosk or via the free CrowdDJ app.

There are various skating aids available for hire during the skating sessions. You can take your pick from a regular frame, a seal or even a kangaroo! Both the Seal Kangaroon are great for younger children as they can either ride on them and be pushed or push them along themselves.  Skating aids are $10 to hire plus a $10 refundable deposit.  Cockburn Ice Arena can accommodate individuals in a wheelchair onto the ice rink with their custom made ice glider which is available for hire. Complementary safety helmets are also available to use. You’ll find them in a container beside the rink.

You can add to your session a spin around the ice on one of their very popular Ice Bykes. Ice Bykes are a cross between a drift trike and ice skates. The back wheels have been replaced with skate blades and they have the ability to drift and slide out around corners. Riders must be a least 12ocm tall in order to reach the pedals.  Ice Byke sessions cost $15 and run 30 minutes before the general sessions start. There are 10 bykes available every session and booking is highly recommended in advance as sessions do sell out.

If you are not skating and want to stay warm while watching your companions skate, you can do so from the comfort of the Frostbite Cafe. The cafe has a large window that overlooks the rink. It serves a variety of drinks and hot food which includes burgers, hot chips, pizza and pies plus sandwiches and wraps. The cafe has a rubber floor so that skates can be worn.

If you wanted to go along and watch a match and make an evening of it, Rink 2 is home to Cabin 401 Bar and Grill, a fully licensed restaurant that specialises in Aussie American style cuisine, including house-smoked barbecue. It also has an extensive craft beer selection and a pretty impressive cocktail menu! Cabin 401’s aim is to replicate a cosy and comfortable log cabin style environment that you may see in North America or Canada – a warm, inviting retreat after a day out in the snow or on the ice.
