Attendees can add their hopes for the year ahead to the Lunar New Year Wishing Tree, a much-loved tradition symbolising good fortune and positive energy. Fortune cookie giveaways will also be distributed โ€“ some may contain an Elizabeth Quay gift card.

Free lawn games, face painting and plenty of splashing fun at the Elizabeth Quay Water Park will keep the kids entertained. Families can make an evening of it by grabbing something delicious at one of the food trucks or enjoying a relaxed meal at one of the restaurants nearby.

Perth Festival’s Under the Red Lanterns: A Lunar New Year Celebration at East Perth Power Station

Families can celebrate Lunar New Year under the glow of the red lanterns at Casa Musica with lion dancers, live music and more at this free family-friendly event.

Guests are encouraged to wear red โ€“ a colour symbolising luck, happiness and prosperity โ€“ and join in an unforgettable night of music, tradition and celebration.

Under the Red Lanterns brings together Perth’s largest Southeast Asian line-up for a night that honours tradition while celebrating contemporary talent. The evening opens with Linh & William Acoustic Duo, setting a warm and soulful tone with their heartfelt acoustic set. Flying Kik follows, blending smooth vocals and rhythmic grooves that capture the pulse of modern Asian-Australian sound.

As night falls, Kurt Carrera and his band takes the stage with their signature energy and charisma, igniting the crowd with powerful vocals and infectious beats.

The evening crescendos with the Yaolin Kung Fu Dragon & Lion Dance Association โ€“ a spectacular fusion of drums, cymbals, acrobatics and colour โ€“ embodying the spirit, strength and good fortune of Lunar New Year.

2026 Lunar New Year Festival at Village Green โ€“ City of South Perth

Families are welcome to visit the Village Green on Saturday, 7 March 2026, from 4pm to 8pm to celebrate the Year of the Horse. The festivities begin between 4pm and 6pm with a variety of children’s activities, including a themed craft station, balloon giveaways, face painting, and a Gowrie WA themed sensory play area. Throughout the entire event from 4pm to 8pm, visitors can browse artisan market stalls curated by Coterie Circle, while live music sets the atmosphere from 5pm to 8pm. The cultural highlights start at 5.30pm with roaming lions meeting local retailers, followed by a spectacular hour of entertainment from 6pm to 7pm featuring a dragon dance, aerial pole dance, traditional lion dance, and a special lion meet-and-greet performed by the Yaolin Kung Fu Association.
