If you’re heading down south with the kids and looking for an easy, family-friendly spot to refuel on caffeine and babycinos, Merchant & Maker in Dunsborough is well worth adding to your list. Right in the middle of town, it’s one of those places that works whether you’re after a quick grab-and-go coffee, an easy bite to eat, or a little gourmet browse while the kids take a breather.
For parents, the big win is convenience. Its central location makes it such an easy stop when you’re already out and about in Dunsborough, whether you’re wandering the shops, or heading to the beach. The coffee here is excellent, which is always a major tick in my books. M&M is my go-to place for a coffee in Dunsborough. And when you’re wrangling kids on holidays or out for the morning, its all about the little wins.
What makes Merchant & Maker especially lovely for families is that it’s not just about coffee and food. There’s a sweet little kids’ play corner with mini shop, which gives little ones something to do while you wait or take five for a moment.
It’s a thoughtful touch, with toys and books and makes the whole experience feel a lot more relaxed and welcoming for parents.
There’s also a gorgeous selection of artisan kids’ gifts, so don’t be surprised if you spot something special while you’re there.
It feels a little bit café, a little bit local artisan store, and very much the kind of place you’ll want to linger just a little longer than planned. I’ve often purchased food from here, when I’ve stayed in Dunsborough over the years. Recently, I bought chorizo for a cheese platter, which I didn’t notice was out of date – so be sure to check the produce you pick before you drive off to your accommodation.
And if you need one more reason to stop in, Merchant & Maker is right next to Elski Danish Ice Cream. Coffee for you, ice cream for the kids, and everyone leaves happy.
If you’re after a relaxed, easy stop in Dunsborough that ticks the boxes for both parents and kids, Merchant & Maker is a great little find.
