Perth’s latest landmark, the Boorloo Bridge, is more than just a connection between Victoria Park and the CBD—it’s an experience perfect for families, cyclists, and pedestrians alike. It officially opened on December 22, 2024, this pedestrian and cyclist bridge offers a safe, scenic, and spacious crossing over the Swan River, with a thoughtful design that makes it a joy to explore.
We visited on opening day, and the bridge immediately impressed with its 6-metre-wide path, ensuring plenty of space for walkers, cyclists, and prams. The separation from traffic provides peace of mind for families, and the views of the river and Perth’s skyline are stunning. Midway, Heirisson Island offers a delightful stop where you might even spot kangaroos.
The bridge lighting, a nightly spectacle from sunset to midnight, enchants all who see it. With over 17,000 LED lights, the dynamic displays celebrate Perth’s culture and heritage. Walking across at night feels like entering a magical, glowing world—a must-see for families. Be sure to check online for upcoming lighting themes and displays to plan your visit.
Boorloo Bridge isn’t just a way to cross the river—it’s a destination. With its stunning design, captivating lights, and nearby family-friendly attractions like playgrounds at McCallum Park, Charles Paterson Park, and Burswood Park, it promises a memorable outing for all ages.
Whether by day or night, it’s a place to walk, play, and connect.
