The Boatshed cafe is located right on the river on South Perth foreshore. The great views of Perth and a fully fenced playground make it the perfect spot for a bite to eat or coffee and cake if you are in the area. There is parking close by or you could stop in on your bike ride around the river.
The cafe offers all-day dining serving
breakfast, lunch, coffee, cakes and more. It is also now fully licensed. The kids’ lunch menu included crumbed chicken and fries or fish and chips served with lemonade icy pole or Dixie cup for $14.00.
It is a sustainable cafe so if you want your coffee in the playground the cafe offers “keep cups” that you can use to save on takeaway cups, and if you bring your own you will save $1.
Little Miss headed straight for the play area as soon as we entered. She had fun playing in the different cubby houses. If you are lucky you might get one of the tables inside overlooking the great view and the play area.
Or as suggested you could get a keep cup and sit on the benches provided while your little ones play.
The play area has a few little cubby houses and a slide. There are two little free-standing houses. These are set up with small table and benches. The other two are joined by a bridge and one of these has a slide. There are a few nautical periscopes and wheels for the kids to play with. The play area has soft fall flooring. The stairs are quite steep so little may need help entering / exiting the play area.
We went to the cafe about
11 am on a weekday morning and it was quite busy. I couldn’t get a table close to the play area so once Little Miss decided she was finished playing and ready for the food so we went inside. Although the breakfast menu was very tempting I ordered a coffee and
cake while little Miss had hot chips and babycino. Both the coffee and food were good.
There is not a lot of room in the cafe but there were a couple of prams at the table near us. High chairs are also available. There are also a few tables set up under cover outside the entrance. This area also has dog water bowls if you bring your furry friend too.
The toilets are located on the side of the building and are used by the public as well. The cafe is adjacent to the Boatshed restaurant. We find the Boatshed cafe to be a good option to stop for breakfast or coffee. The bike/walk path around the river means Little Miss can take her scooter and we can have a walk and we can also stop at one of the nearby playgrounds like Coode St playground. The enclosed play area in the cafe means we can enjoy our meal or coffee knowing she can’t run off.
Located Coode St South Perth.
Open Monday to Saturday 7.30am – 4 pm
Sunday 8am-4pm
All day dining fully licensed cafe
