Please note, there will be a photographer and videographer capturing pictures and footage of the event, with content taken to be used for promotional purposes by the City of Melville and the stallholders.
Join us on Sunday, 2 November for City of Melville’s annual Eco Action Expo! With a wide variety of stallholders, activities, and lots to learn there will be something for everyone.
We’ve all heard that the planet is in trouble – climate change, extinction events, increasing natural disasters, floating piles of plastic…it can be really overwhelming and hard to know what or if there is anything we can do.
This expo will celebrate and promote the action being taken locally and show the ways that we can make a difference in our own homes and everyday lives. There is a tendency to talk about “taking action for the future” but in reality we need to take action now.
If you are passionate about wildlife, love gardening, are interested in house design or renovations, are looking for ways to connect to your local community, want to empower your kids, or any combination of the above, we’d love to see you there!
What to expect:
- Stallholders on a variety of topics addressing the triple planetary crisis – climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution (Final Event Map and Stallholder List will be available to download in early October)
- Kids Zone
- Food and drinks
- Wildlife meet and greet
- Art activities
- Drop-in talks
- Live music
- Guided walks
Children must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult at all times. This will be a smoke and alcohol free event.
Please be aware that this event will include spaces within an indoor venue, where dogs can not be accommodated.
Waste:
This is a waste wise event. Please bring your own water bottle, reusable bag, and keep cup.
Transport:
Event parking will be provided at the Murdoch Drive Carpark (limited spaces available). This event will take place at City of Melville EcoHub in Winthrop.
As we have limited parking, please get creative and consider how you can arrive by alternative transport. If you live locally why not cycle or walk? There are also bus-stops on Leach Hwy within a 15 minute walk and Bull Creek Train Station is close by – plan your journey with public transport https://www.transperth.wa.gov.au/Journey-Planner.
If you need to drive, please carpool with friends and family. Note that our Leach Hwy Carpark will not be available, event parking is solely at the Murdoch Drive Carpark. It is a ten minute walk (or a three minute cycle!) to the centre through some lovely bushland trails. Make an outing of it, bring your bikes and scooters or pop your kids into a beach trolley and see what you can spot! Download the Play Trails App for a digital scavenger hunt to do with your kids while you make your way through the reserve (select ‘Redeem Invitation’ and enter code: PINEYLAKES).
Cycling Without Age volunteers will be providing free rides on their trishaw ebikes to and from the event parking.
Accessibility:
For those with mobility restrictions, there will be a drop-off and pick up space at the front of the centre and 6 bays set aside for ACROD holders (please note that these bays are accessed via Leach Hwy and are 130m from the event entrance).
This event will be spread through the EcoHub in rooms located on multiple levels accessed via a ramp as well as in the outdoor space surrounding the centre. A quiet space will be available within the centre, and two quieter hours (10-11am, and 2pm-3pm) have been set aside with no music. For specific access requirements please feel free to call or email (08)9364 0191 or ecohub@melville.wa.gov.au

FIFO Family Meet-Up
Are you a FIFO family in Perth, wanting to meet others who get what itโs like to live a FIFO life?
This free event is your opportunity to connect and have a cuppa with other local FIFO Families who โget itโ, where you can begin to overcome the loneliness and isolation that too often comes with FIFO rosters and being a FIFO partner.
Bonus โ you get an outing on a Sunday morning, where the kids are contained (fully-fenced play area), youโre inside if it rains and there are lots of great coffee shops nearby.
Act Now! Yes tickets are free but you must sign up to attend through Eventbrite, as numbers for the venue are capped and we donโt want you to miss out.
* Please select 1 ticket for every member of the family attending *
* Children must have their own ticket
*Will there be more events? Absolutely! There are monthly TFFP (The FIFO Family Project) meet-ups planned across Perth for the rest of 2025. Join our Facebook group to stay updated on the next meet-ups and other activities: https://www.facebook.com/groups/thefifofamilyproject
Thank you! We want to say a big thank-you to our venue sponsor for this event โ Meerilinga. We couldnโt host this event indoors without your generous support.
