Rio Tinto Christmas Lights Trail
Proudly brought to you by the City of Perth, principle partner Rio Tinto and major supporter Lotterywest. The Rio Tinto Christmas Lights Trail is back in town, lighting up the City for 41 nights with 20 amazing light installations. You can walk the full trail to see all 20 installations or take the family-friendly route, ‘The Merry Mile’. Enjoy festive entertainment and performances throughout the City on select nights, including weekly visits from Santa Claus in December. After 36 years of fire, explosions, and mind-bending experiments, Scitech is turning up the heat with a new family-friendly show for FRINGE WORLD 2025!
We’re taking the coolest, loudest, and most spectacular science demos and pushing them to the extreme. From fiery experiments to electrifying moments, this show will leave you wondering: is this genius, or just plain bonkers? Arrive early, grab a drink, and prepare for a night of wild science as our presenter goes over the top with visceral, risky, experimental bolt-ons to our classic science shows. While this show is best suited for ages 7+, future scientists of all ages are welcome.

Making a Paper Bag Kite
Keep the kids entertained these school holidays with a huge line up of FREE activities at our Libraries! Check out our great range of fun and creative activities as part of our school holiday program!
With just a paper bag, and some streamers create a kite designed by you! Make it as bright and colourful as you can by adding some washi tape, stamps and cut-outs. Decide how high you would like your kite to fly and then just add string. Pick a windy day (but not too windy!) and test your kite out. You might have time to make two kites, and you could fly with a friend.
Ages: 4 – 8-year-olds
While our activities are designed for ages 5 – 12, younger children may require assistance from a parent or carer to complete the activity.

At this hands on session kids will be provided with resources to create an aerodynamic vehicle with guidance from Curtin University’s STEM Outreach team.
Rapid Prototyping – usually failing is seen as something to avoid. BUT this activity is all about failing fast, learning, and innovating to improve design.
This session is suitable for 8 to 12 year olds.

Performing with Puppets – Summer School Holiday Program
Discover the art of puppetry at Amherst Village Library
Join puppeteers from the Spare Parts Puppet Theatre to discover the magic of puppeteering. This comprehensive workshop covers drama improvisation skills, story building, puppet manipulation and the history of puppetry. Working in small groups participants will be exposed to a variety of professionally made puppets and explore how body language and vocal communication are used by puppeteers.

Summer Reading Quest – Paint a Glow in the Dark Chameleon @ Girrawheen
Have fun with Glow in the Dark and UV Black Light paint and markers. Decorate your own chameleon guided by artist and illustrator Cindy Lane. Choose your own colours from the wheel to make your creature unique and learn about luminescent colours in nature.
You will get a glow in the dark mini torch to take home and your artwork of course!

Art for Mindful Kids, Ages 6+,$150, Floreat Forum
In this workshop, kids will draw, sculpt and paint in a series of mindful art activities using the calming power of nature.
Kids will create a nature scene painting that will become a place they can focus on to help them self-regulate and calm down when they face challenges.
They will spend the morning doing drawing, watercolour and creative clay activities to practice mindfulness. This will develop their ability to focus and concentrate.
In the afternoon they will plan and create their nature scene, their painted representation of a place to focus to calm down. This may be a real or imaginary place and can be hung in their special space to remind them of the mindfulness techniques long after the paint dries.
Kids will learn several mindful techniques and you will receive a worksheet and access to online video so that you can support your child ability to self-regulate their emotions.

Clay Play Day, Ages 6+, $150, Floreat Forum
Kids love clay and we have discovered over the years that they want more. Your kids can join us in a messy exploration of different types of clay including air dry, natural “clay” and a special kitchen ingredient clay they will get to help make and colour (no, it’s not playdough). Kids will explore the unpredictable nature of clay and the many opportunities for beautiful oops and happy accidents. Kids will learn new clay techniques such as mark making, coiling and a mosaic picture.
They will take home at least three clay projects. This workshop will develop their fine motor, creativity and perseverance skills as they let their imagination go wild. This workshop is proving one of our most popular holiday workshops. Each child will release their inner messy monster and we will clean it all up so you don’t have to.

Hillarys Marina to Watermans Bay walking group
Join the Hillarys Walking Group every Friday Night. Meet at 6.15pm sharp outside Kebabulous Kebab Shop near the Taxi Rank outside the south side main entrance to Hillarys Marina, next to the car park. Start walking at 6.30pm sharp on the footpath south to Waterman’s Bay and return to Hillarys Marina for optional Dinner/Drinks/Coffees. Distance is 3km each way, 6kms total. Walk is at an easy pace. Please wear good walking shoes and bring water, jacket and torch. Cost: Free and all welcome. Children supervised by adults are most welcome. Smokers please walk away when necessary. BMX / MTB pump track coaching – Hester Park
Thanks to the City of Gosnells. Freestyle Now will be conducting FREE BMX / MTB coaching sessions at the Hester Park pump track.
Session 1 – 9:00am
Session 2 – 10:00am
The workshop sessions would be open to any participant over the age of 6.
Freestyle Now squad members would be present to offer participants technical advice, trick tips, skill development and skatepark etiquette.
Each coaching workshop session is 50 minutes in duration. Our facilitators analyze the participants skill level and work from that base and assist with confidence building. Skills can be taught but confidence cannot. It is important to not only just focus on skill building but confidence as well. By using their own skill base as a stepping stone we are able to help them advance. Our instructors speak the participant’s language and speak on their level. Our instructors relay this safety message to our participants and reiterate the importance of helmets and how they can minimize injuries.
Participants are split up into groups based on their skills and or what is required to learn.
All participants would need their own equipment and would also be required to wear a helmet and closed in shoes. Participants with defective bikes may not be able to participate. Our facilitators are not able to make repairs to participants bikes during the coaching session.
Participants under the age of 6 will be taken on their ability to understand and follow instructions and to control their apparatus.

Freestyle Now coaching workshops are fun, informative and motivational.
The squad members let the participants ride at their own level and encourage progression.
All our instructors are very easy going and relate to the participants well. Our workshops cover all aspects of the sports, as well as equipment maintenance and personal safety issues.
Freestyle Now hosts many coaching workshop sessions throughout the year for various local governments, community organizations and private companies.
Freestyle Now also can do private coaching lessons.

Get ready to whip up some delicious fun at our cupcake baking and decorating workshop at The Underground! Learn the secrets to baking soft, fluffy cupcakes from scratch and master the art of creating stunning fondant flowers to give your treats a touch of edible elegance. Looking for something crafty to do? Join us for a morning of fun and crafty projects using a wide range of materials and a little bit of imagination.
For children aged 6-12 years
Bookings are not required for this event; however, space is limited, and places are allocated via a token system. Please collect a token on arrival (first come, first served).
Parents, please note that children between 6 and 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult, or older sibling (13 years and over).

Thanks to the City of Bayswater. Freestyle Now will be conducting FREE BMX / Mountain bike jump track coaching session.
The jam style session would be open to any participant over the age of 6.

Our experienced Freestyle Now coaches will be on hand to guide participants in learning new skills and boosting confidence. Get ready for a day filled with exciting challenges and the chance to win some awesome prizes! Participants can look forward to engaging in fun challenges designed to cater to all skill levels. From mastering the best trick to and the lowest jump, there’s something for everyone. It’s all up for grabs! This jam session isn’t just about competition, it’s an opportunity for participants to shine among their peers and demonstrate their skills in a positive environment. Thanks to the support of the City of Bayswater, we’re able to provide a platform for the community to be engaged and participate on the new pump track and for participants to learn new skills and win prizes. The workshop sessions would be open to any participant over the age of 6.
Bring your own helmet and skates
Freestyle Now squad members would be present to offer participants technical advice, trick tips, skill development and skatepark etiquette.
Each coaching workshop session is 50 minutes long with a 10 minute parent information session conducted at between sessions to help educate parents on skatepark etiquette, understanding of skateboards, and safety issues. If you are in the second session be sure to arrive early to catch this important information.
Our facilitators analyze the participants skill level and work from that base and assist with confidence building. Skills can be taught but confidence cannot. It is important to not only just focus on skill building but confidence as well. By using their own skill base as a stepping stone we are able to help them advance. Our instructors speak the participant’s language and speak on their level. Our instructors relay this safety message to our participants and reiterate the importance of helmets and how they can minimize injuries.
All participants would need their own equipment and would also be required to wear a helmet and closed in shoes. Participants with defective rollerskates may not be able to participate. Our facilitators may not be able to make repairs to participants rollerskates during the coaching session.
Participants under the age of 6 will be taken on their ability to understand and follow instructions and to control their apparatus.

Whistling, Recorders and Kazoos! – Summer Reading Quest
Are you ready to join author Kristy Nita Brown’s Kazoo Choir?
Join author, Kristy Nita Brown, for an epic (and noisy) workshop exploring her latest book, Mavey & Beth’s Double Act: Where’s My Whistle?. In this lively, interactive workshop, participants explore how story ideas are born while engaging in music-making activities. Children will create and play their own kazoos, all while learning about whistling, story structure, and independent publishing along the way. Everyone gets to keep their kazoo and join in a “kazoo choir” performance! For ages 6-12 years. Mandurah skatepark BMX Coaching session

Freestyle Now will be hosting a FREE BMX coaching session at the Mandruah skatepark. Participants in BMX/ MTB will be able to learn new tricks or get advice on tricks and have a stack of fun. These workshop sessions are more than just helping teach skills. These workshops are fun, informative and motivational. The squad members let the participants ride at their own level and encourage progression. All our instructors are very easy going and relate to the participants well. Our workshops cover all aspects of the sports, as well as equipment maintenance and personal safety issues. All equipment is checked prior to the participant’s involvement to make sure that it is in a safe condition and minor repairs or adjustments can be made if necessary. We do, however, reserve the right to not permit a participant to attend the workshop if we feel that their equipment does not meet safety requirements. All Thanks to the City of Mandurah.

Mobile Youth Truck – Shepherds Bush Pump & Jump Track
The Youth Truck is a custom-designed mobile youth service that provides a welcoming, free drop-in space for young people and access to youth workers for support, information and referral services. The truck includes amenities such as cooking facilities, gaming consoles, art and craft activities, sports equipment, tabletop and board games, free Wi-Fi.
The Youth Truck travels to various locations in the City of Joondalup, including local parks, schools and community events. Eligibility: For ages 11 – 18 years. Important note: Time and dates are subject to change. For updates, times and eligibility follow the Youth Services via Facebook and Instagram. Note subject to change and weather permitting.
Friendship Festival | School Holiday Program | East Metro
Friendship Festival is a 2 day program designed for young people 7-12 years who are supporting a friend, family member or relative with a mental health concern. This program aims to educate them on the importance of developing healthy friendships, and what a healthy relationship looks like. Friendship Festival aims to provide participants with:
1. Develop confidence and self-esteem.
2. Develop understanding of how important words are.
3. The importance of positive self-talk.
4. Identify positive coping strategies and why they are helpful
5. Team building and gaining confidence to speak within a group
This program also includes an exciting excursion to AQWA!

School Holiday Program important info
- If your child has not received support from HelpingMinds before (or within the last 6 months) a phone interview will need to take place with the parent/guardian
- A consent form will need to be signed by both parents.
- If children require medication throughout the day, they will be required to self-administer this.
- External support workers are not allowed at the workshop.
- Children require adequate independent coping skills to be able to deal with group situations.
- All our workshops have a maximum capacity to ensure our counsellors can provide adequate professional support for all children attending.
- To give everyone in the community a fair chance, each child can enrol in a maximum of two workshops.
This program is funded by the Mental Health Commission to provide support to young people caring for someone or with a loved one with a mental health concern. This program is provided at no cost to participants.
Paper Daze: papier-mâché & all pretty paper, Ages 8+, $55, The Maker Space
Morning Madness:
Get your hands mucky while making a papier-mâché room decoration. Build your own, satisfying mess.. we mean.. sculpture.
Afternoon Fun:
Once our sculptures are are dry, it is time to paint and decorate – showing your unique style. Mini paper projects will be added to this masterpiece if… we find the time. This is a day packed with creativity and a tiny bit of mess.
Note, you are welcome to book your child in for the morning or afternoon sessions as stand alone classes. You can also book for the whole day ($110 ticket option) morning and afternoon sessions, to give you more “you” time, and we will supervise your child during the lunch break between classes.
