The Guildford Hotel perfectly blends historic charm with modern family fun, making it an ideal spot for parents looking for a place where both adults and kids can enjoy themselves.

This state treasure dates back to the 1880s and after being tragically gutted by fire in 2008, reopened in 2016 following a stunning restoration that preserved its heritage charm.

Inside, history comes alive with exposed bricks made by convicts and giant charred jarrah beams from the original structure. The space is airy and fills with golden light even on overcast days, creating a warm atmosphere for family dining.

The recently expanded area called “The Hall” (formerly the Vaudeville Theatre) features a covered extension to the beer garden that’s perfect for family gatherings.

Kids will love the brand new playground inspired by Geoff’s Smash Repairs, with climbing equipment and slides to keep them entertained while parents relax in the sunny beer garden nearby.

For older kids and teens, The Hall offers pool tables and two Mario Kart arcade machines, ensuring entertainment for children of all ages.

Sunday family days feature free kids entertainment from 12pm including face painting, balloon animals, themed parties, and special character appearances.

With multiple seating options throughout the venue, families can choose from the main dining area, sports bar, beer garden, or even enjoy a bird’s eye view of central Guildford from one of the many alfresco verandahs.

The dedicated kids menu caters to young taste buds, while adults can select from a drool-worthy menu featuring smoked meats and pub classics with modern twists. With 18 beers on tap and specialty cocktails available from the Whisky Bar upstairs, parents are well catered for too.

Open from 11am daily (until 10pm Sunday-Thursday and midnight Friday-Saturday), it’s a walk-in venue with group bookings available. Mid-afternoon is an ideal time to visit with kids to avoid the lunch rush. Keep in mind that parking is limited in the area, though free parking is available at Guildford Train Station on weekends.

What makes The Guildford Hotel stand out is how it manages to be both a sophisticated venue for adults and a fun space for children without compromising on either experience. Whether you’re looking for a casual family meal or a special celebration, this historic hotel delivers a genuinely family-friendly experience that will have both parents and kids asking to return.
