At the time of our visit, breakfast and lunch were served at Geordie’s Cafe every day and dinner was served Wednesday – Saturday nights (this may vary so you may want to check if you are thinking of making a trip). The kitchen closes at 7:30 pm on the nights it is open for dinner.

All meals are available as a take away on request.

From the Rottnest Island website: ‘Walk, bike or catch the free shuttle to Geordie Bay Square to visit the newest, hippest venue on Rottnest Island. Featuring 5 Senses coffee, TeaDrop tea, freshly made juices, smoothies and old fashioned shakes and spiders all served in our Art Gallery restaurant or outside in our alfresco area. Choose from our extensive breakfast, lunch, dinner or kids menu or try one of our daily blackboard specials. Telephone or email for current opening hours, to make dinner reservations or for function and catering enquiries.’

BYO: Bring your own beer and wine. The Geordie Bay Store next door has a wine department and is open until 6pm so if you have an early dinner then you can pop in and buy some drinks before dinner. At the time of writing, corkage is $5 per bottle.

We love Geordie’s café. We were staying at Longreach Bay on this trip to Rottnest Island so Geordie’s was an extremely convenient place to eat. However, even if you are not staying in that part of the island, it is worth making the trip as it is very good indeed. It is worth booking though as we have been disappointed before as last year we couldn’t get a table for dinner on the day we wanted.

There is a smaller indoor area with quite a few tables and art on the walls which can be purchased. You can also buy fresh juice, coffee, muffins and cakes, etc to take away.  There is a large outdoor eating area which is quite protected, even on windy days.

There is also a playground with shade sails right next to the café.

There is an abundance of quokkas nearby and if you eat outside they will probably hop around near your feet on the scrounge for food. The café also leaves a small bowl of water out for the quokkas so they can easily get a drink.

We ate at Geordie’s on 2 separate evenings during this trip and the food was great both times. There is a full children’s menu so the restaurant is definitely geared towards people with children. They have a standard menu and a specials board that changes from night to night. Friday night is seafood night although there were seafood specials on the other night we ate there also.

The kiddies had the chicken burger one night and the fish and chips the next visit. Both looked very good.

We had the prawns and squid to start with the first night and liked them so much had the same the next time too!

I had the steak the first night for my main but while it was very nice, mine came well done instead of medium rare which was a bit of a shame but I think I was unlucky. My husband had the pork which he really liked. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo of them before we started eating! The next night we had the Thai style rock lobster special and my husband had the seafood pasta special. Both were very good.

I could not manage dessert but our friends had the churros and the sticky date pudding. Both of which they enjoyed.

The kiddies had the ice-cream with chocolate sauce. We asked for sprinkles and to have the chocolate sauce on the side and they were happy to oblige.

The first night we ate there it was quite cold so it is worth bringing a warm jumper and even a beanie! However, it was only spring so on a warm summer’s evening I think it would be fine.

We really liked Geordie’s Cafe and will certainly return on our next visit. Definitely recommended.
