Itโs time to let your little oneโs curiosity run wild this summer! Toddlerfest at Scitech is back and better than ever. Designed especially for children aged 0โ5, this much-loved Perth family event sparks imagination and inspires discovery in the smallest explorers, all in a relaxed, pram-friendly environment.

From the moment you arrive, itโs clear that Toddlerfest has been thoughtfully designed with families in mind. Thereโs ample pram parking, baby change facilities close at hand, and plenty of space for little legs to wander.

The entire experience is built around sensory, hands-on play, with activities tailored to suit different personalities, abilities and attention spans โ from the bold experimenters to the more cautious observers.

On arrival in the foyer, families are invited to collect a Toddlerfest passport. This simple but clever idea turns your visit into a mini adventure. Children are encouraged to discover each of the six activity stations set up throughout Scitech, stamping their passport as they go.

Itโs a lovely way to guide your visit, helping you explore all corners of the venue without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. Along the way, kids can dive into messy play, enjoy a live stage show, and even take a mini tour of the solar system in Scitechโs famous Planetarium.

One of the highlights is the messy play station inside the Kaartadjin Koorliny exhibit โ Scitechโs collaborative space that encourages open exploration and hands-on learning. Here, three tables are set up with non-toxic, glow-in-the-dark playdough that little ones will be itching to squish, roll and mould. The station runs from 10:00โ15:00, giving staff time to regularly refresh the playdough and offer a helping hand when needed.

Nearby, the ever-popular tubing wall is a huge hit. Children can toss fluorescent fabric pieces into the vacuum-powered pipes and watch as they swirl and twirl their way upwards before shooting out of the top and floating gently back down, ready to be sent soaring again and again.

Little nature lovers will adore the Imagination Stop. In this space, kids can explore the effects of light pollution and learn about the journey of baby turtles to the ocean. They can even dress up as tiny turtles making their way to the sea. A large projector transforms the room into an atmospheric beach scene, complete with the sound of crashing waves and a virtual turtle migration. Itโs immersive, gentle, and perfectly pitched for toddlers and preschoolers โ educational without ever feeling like a lesson.

Throughout Toddlerfest, the intercom provides timely reminders for the exclusive toddler-focused Planetarium Show and the Mix and Make stage show as theyโre about to begin. These announcements are a real bonus for parents juggling feeds, naps, and the occasional meltdown, helping you plan when to head to a show without constantly checking the time.

The Mix and Make show is a firm favourite with young audiences. This interactive performance encourages children to shout out, join in and become part of the action, resulting in plenty of giggles and squeals of delight. The story follows Professor Pop and Assistant Toot as they muddle through a recipe book, creating all sorts of mess, mayhem and fascinating experiments. For parents, the atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed. Children are free to move around, chatter, or sit in your lap, and itโs perfectly acceptable to slip out mid-show if a nappy change or tantrum calls โ making it a genuinely low-stress experience.

The Planetarium experience is another standout treat. While young children are usually too little to attend regular Planetarium sessions, Toddlerfest opens the doors especially for its youngest visitors. The toddler-friendly Planetarium show runs for just 10 minutes โ the ideal length for short attention spans โ and offers a gentle, engaging journey through the solar system. Itโs a lovely way to introduce little ones to space without overwhelming them with too much darkness or noise. Just keep in mind that, like all Planetarium sessions, food and drink (other than water) are not permitted inside.

When itโs time for a break, families can refuel at the on-site canteen, which offers coffee, sandwiches and a range of snacks. There are also nearby vending machines for quick grab-and-go options. Parents are welcome to bring packed lunches, which is especially handy for children with specific dietary needs or those who prefer familiar foods. A microwave is available for warming up baby food or meals if needed, taking the pressure off mealtimes while youโre out and about.

A surprise highlight of the canteen area is the beehive display. Through clear perspex, visitors can watch real bees buzzing about their daily work, tending to the hive and making honey. Itโs a quiet but fascinating attraction that often captivates both kids and adults while they enjoy a snack or coffee break.

Whether your little one loves getting messy, dressing up, tinkering with hands-on experiments or gazing at the stars, Toddlerfest offers a joyful introduction to science through play. Every element of the event has been carefully considered for the 0โ5 age group, striking a lovely balance between learning and fun.

The atmosphere is inclusive and unhurried, making it easy to follow your childโs lead, whether that means repeating the same activity several times or wandering off to explore something new.

From interactive stage shows and sensory stations to a special Planetarium experience and a close-up look at busy bees, Toddlerfest is packed with opportunities for discovery. For Perth families seeking an outing thatโs engaging, relaxed, and genuinely child-focused, Toddlerfest at Scitech is well worth adding to your calendar. Itโs a chance to slow down, soak up the wonder on your childโs face, and watch their imagination come to life โ one stamp in their Toddlerfest passport at a time.
