Looking for a fun activity to do with the kids? We headed to Build-A-Bear at Lakeside Joondalup for their Pay Your Age promotion which is running until 31st August 2026, and Harvey absolutely loved the experience!
The experience is just as much fun as the finished teddy. Kids get to choose their bear (during the Pay Your Age promotion, the Birthday Treat Bear is the featured option), help stuff it, pick a heart to place inside, choose an outfit for an additional cost, give their new friend a name, and create their very own birth certificate.
There are also plenty of other bears to choose from year round, with prices varying depending on the design, along with a wide range of outfits and accessories to personalise your furry friend. You can even add recorded voice messages and scents for an extra special touch.
Harvey loved being involved in the whole process, and of course the best part was getting to take his new furry friend home at the end. There was only one staff member working when we visited, and considering how busy the store was, she did a fantastic job. She didn’t cut any corners and made sure we still got the full Build-A-Bear experience from start to finish.
We would absolutely recommend it. It’s such a cute experience for kids, and we love that they get to be involved rather than simply choosing a toy off the shelf. Harvey got to create something that felt completely his own, from stuffing his bear and choosing its heart and name, right through to making his certificate. It’s one of those activities where the experience becomes part of the memory, not just the toy you take home.

Customers can pay the age their child is turning for the Birthday Treat Bear, though a Bonus Club membership is required to take part and conditions apply.
