Looking for somewhere the whole family can enjoy a meal with a bit of entertainment on the side? We recently spent an afternoon at Varsity Morley, and it’s much more than a burger joint.
Tucked away on Rudloc Road, Varsity has a fun American-style sports bar feel. There are big screens, a huge indoor space, a deck and beer garden out the back, and a custom-built arcade. Even with all that going on, it’s easy to find a comfy spot to settle in with the kids.

If you love a burger, you’ll be spoilt for choice. The menu is full of comfort food, including loaded burgers, cheeseburgers, wings, tenders, loaded fries, pizzas and sides. Vegetarian and vegan families are well looked after too. There’s a Vegan Cheeseburger and a Vegan Cheese Deluxe, and you can swap the cheese, mayo or patty on most other burgers for a vegan version. There are also vegan wings, veggie nachos and vegan loaded fries. Then there are the milkshakes, which are big enough to count as dessert and entertainment in one.
One of the cutest touches was the kids meals arriving in their very own little truck. It’s such a fun detail, and Harvey absolutely loved it.
The outdoor area and kids play space were big highlights for us. Parents can relax with a drink while the little ones burn off some energy, which makes lunch a lot more relaxing.

The arcade is the real drawcard. It has a mix of classic and newer machines, from retro favourites to more recent games like Jurassic Park, Asphalt 9 and Treasure Cove. There’s also a big redemption store, so kids can trade their winnings for prizes. Keep an eye out for Half Price Thursdays, which make a trip even better value.

There’s a pool table too if the grown-ups fancy a game.
Varsity is a licensed venue, so children under 18 need to be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times. That’s easy to manage, but worth knowing before you go. If you’re heading in with a group of four or more, it’s a good idea to book ahead, especially on busy nights or when there’s a big game on. You can book up to 12 weeks in advance, and same-day bookings are available too.
It works well for a family lunch, an easy weeknight dinner or a relaxed afternoon out. It’s also a good option for birthdays. There are private party rooms, and you’re welcome to bring your own cake. Staff will pop it in the fridge until you’re ready to cut it. The screens show live sport, so parents who want to catch the game can do that while the kids are happily occupied.
