If you’ve ever found yourself with a bit of time to kill around Matagarup Bridge (or you’re waiting on someone brave enough to tackle the Zip+Climb, like us), keep Mizzica in mind. Me and Miss 9 popped in while we were waiting for the zip climb crew to climb the bridge (it’s right opposite), and it was a lovely little spot for families in that area.
Before we grabbed a drink, we did a quick wander and explored the two playgrounds nearby, which is always a win when you’ve got kids who need to burn off energy. First we stopped at the Optus Stadium Sensory Playground, and then walked a little further to the Chevron Parkland. Miss 9 loved the exciting and vibrant sensory playground best. Then it was time for a little cafe break, I definitely needed to rest my feet!
Food-wise, everything in the cabinet looked really authentic and genuinely tempting. One thing to note for gluten-free families though: there was nothing GF in the cabinet when we visited. That may change day to day, but it’s worth knowing if you’re heading there specifically for a snack option. You can order meals (including antipasto, pasta, salads, paninis) from the brunch and lunch menus.
I ordered an iced coffee, and it hit the spot after all the running around on a warm summers day.
There’s a good kids menu that covers every time of day.
As well as textas and paper for free-style drawing and colouring. This kept Miss 9 busy as she’d just had an ice cream treat from a van at the playground.
Location-wise, this place is hard to beat. It’s right next to the Matagarup mini golf, super handy for Optus Stadium, and parking is easy on non-event/game days. There’s also a grassy area that makes it feel extra kid-friendly, plus little touches like garden games keep the kids busy while you enjoy your drink.
All up, Mizzica is a great option for a casual stop if you’re doing an outing around Matagarup Bridge, mini golf, a river ride or anything close to Optus stadium.
