Flinderz Hillarys โ€“ Flinderz is a suburban gem and if youโ€™re not a local, chances are youโ€™ve never heard of it. Flinderz is in Hillarys, but it isnโ€™t found at the Boat Harbour. The modern cafรฉ is located at the leafy Hillaryโ€™s Shopping Centre on Finders Avenue.

Flinderz is a light and bright cafรฉ, with seating inside and also in the shady alfresco area, where we always like to dine.

The inviting cafรฉ is a good spot for a family brunch or mothers group get together. Thereโ€™s good coffee, tasty food, which includes a well-priced kids menu and entertainment for the kids โ€“ in the form of a kids corner and a few mini iPads too!

The kidโ€™s play corner is fenced and gated and is fantastic for keeping busy toddlers and pre-schoolers busy. Thereโ€™s loads of toys and a big play kitchen and dollhouse too.

Thereโ€™s a good choice of drinks โ€“ coffee, tea, smoothies and more. Weโ€™ve always found them to have quality coffee. Little Chef ordered his brunch favourite โ€“ a babycino.

Since I last visited thereโ€™s been some interesting new additions to the Flinderz brunch menu. I really liked the sound of their house smoked Atlantic salmon and the French toast, but opted for my favourite House made granola, $17. When the food arrived it looked really delicious and my granola tasted great too โ€“ the honeyed oats and seeds are toasted and served with dried fruits with a whibbly wobbly yogurt panna cotta sitting in the middle of the bowl, along with a fruit coulis. I drown this pretty brekkie in milk, itโ€™s just as tasty as I remember.

Chef really enjoyed his eggs Benedict, $19. A fluffy house made English muffin is topped with honey baked ham, spinach and perfectly poached eggs, all coated in creamy hollandaise.

The kids meals are incredibly good value at $6 each. For brekkie thereโ€™s French toast, scrambled eggs on toast, ham and cheese toasty and pancakes. For lunch thereโ€™s kidโ€™s steak, fish n chips, lightly fried chicken and chips and a burger. Little Chef said his fluffy pancakes were really yummy and loved them being served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream too.

Flinderz has high chairs available. The toilets are located outside the cafรฉ, next to Coles (being at a shopping centre) and they are very clean and have baby changing facilities. Most areas of the cafรฉ are easily navigated with a pram too.

Flinderz Hillarys is open for breakfast, brunch, lunch and coffee n cake. Itโ€™s a good spot for a catch up with little kids in tow.

If youโ€™re looking for something else to do in the area with kids there is a great playground at Mawson Park which is also on Flinders Avenue.
