Gosnells Railway Markets has to be one of the most unique markets we have ever visited! Established in 1990, this family-friendly market known as the “Gozzy Markets” by the locals is the community hub for fresh fruits and veggies, dining in and takeaway options, locally-owned retail stores and even houses an actual steam locomotive and railway artefacts. It’s like stepping inside a railway museum, and the best part is it’s free and fun!
Stepping inside, we are greeted by the sight of the magnificent steam locomotive.
Unfortunately, you are unable to get inside the cab of the train, but children can still get up close to the train to have a closer look of the train structure.
Around the market, children can play a game of spot-it to look out for the railway-related items like the vintage railway signalling instruments, railway crossing and railway signs.
There is also the cab of a diesel-electric locomotive strategically placed for a photo opportunity.
Explore this unique market, featuring a variety of shops that sell local handmade items, gifts, home décor, toys, clothing, and plants. One of the stores that caught our attention was Mad Retro Shop, which has some very cool retro video games and consoles!
The Market has its own fresh fruits and veggies shop that comes with a butcher and a fresh seafood stall.
Before leaving, you have to check out the food court with a variety of international food, bakery and café. The must-try has to be the renowned De Honey Charcoal Grilled satays! Watch them fire up the satays and enjoy the aromatic, flavourful and succulent satays!
Toilets are found inside the market with a nappy change room. Plenty of free parking is available at the car park outside the market. And if this is not enough train-sighting for the day, children can have a play at the train-themed Gosnells Oval All Abilities Playgroun,d which is just a few streets away.
