Harmony Week in Perth will take place from 17 until 23rd March 2025. This is a time to celebrate all the vibrant and wonderful cultures that make up our community. This year’s theme is “Harmony- we all have a role to play!” As schools prepare to celebrate Harmony Day, so do our different local councils with library events, festivals, dancing and much more for everyone. Altone Comes Alive
Get ready for an unforgettable day of fun, culture and connection this Harmony Week as Altone Comes Alive returns to Altone Park in Beechboro. This much-loved annual event, hosted by the City of Swan, celebrates the incredible diversity and unity of our community, bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds for a vibrant day out. This family-friendly event offers something for everyone, with live entertainment, a bustling marketplace of community stalls, and delicious food trucks showcasing flavours from around the world, there is plenty to see, taste and do. Kids and families are in for a treat with free festival rides, face painting, henna tattoos, bouncing castles, mini golf, and so much more. Whether you’re exploring the stalls, enjoying performances from talented local artists, or simply soaking up the festive atmosphere, Altone Comes Alive is the perfect way to celebrate Harmony Week and connect with your community. It’s not just a festival. It’s a chance to celebrate what makes our community thrive – diversity, connection, and collaboration. Celebrating culture and language in our City
Bilingual story time is a fun way for children to learn about the diverse cultures and languages within our community and continue to develop their early literacy skills. Together we will enjoy songs, rhymes, stories and fun crafts in an interactive session. Join us at Thornlie Library as we explore the Punjabi language in celebration of Harmony Week. Mandarin Stars Story Time
Celebrating culture and language in our City
Join us at Gosnells Library for a special Harmony Day Mandarin Stars Story Time on Wednesday, 19th March 2025 at 10.30am! This engaging 1-hour interactive session presented by Mandarin Stars is designed to immerse children in the beauty of Chinese culture and language through music, movement, storytelling, puppet show, arts and crafts, and basic Mandarin language learning. They’ll also get to experience fun cultural games, practice chopstick skills, and try their hand at Chinese calligraphy. Come along and celebrate Harmony Day with us as we embrace diversity, learn new skills, and have fun together.

Vietnamese Dance and Culture for Harmony Week @ Wanneroo Library
Come along and learn about vietnamese classical dance. Predominantly performed during Lunar New Year and Mid-Autumn Festival, Vietnamese dancing has been an innate part of Vietnamese culture since ancient times. Featuring great skill, this dance will have participants amazed at the sight before them.

Experience Flamenco Dance for Harmony Week @ Girrawheen Library
Danza Viva is the longest running Spanish Dance Academy in WA. Director Sofia Pratt is passionate about flamenco, an artform based on the various folkloric music traditions of southern Spain and developed within the Gitano (Romani) subculture of the region of Andalusia, southern Spain.

Traditional Music & Bon Dance of Japan for Harmony Week @ Clarkson Library
Come along and listen to Sanshi play the shinobue and taiko. Shinobue is a Japanese side-blown bamboo flute that has a high-pitched but melodic sound. Traditionally shinobue plays an important part in the music festivals, folksongs, Shinto ritual and theatre performances of kabuki. The taiko or drum has been part of Japanese culture for centuries. When hit hard with bachi, taiko can produce sounds topping 130 decibels, a sound level on par with a jet plane! Sanshi will also guide you though some songs, moves and dances.

Bilingual Storytime – Cantonese at Riverton Library – Harmony Week
Join volunteers Gladys and her team celebrate Harmony week. 2025 theme is ‘Harmony- we all have a role to play!’
The session will begin with singing and storytelling incorporating Cantonese and English. All language abilities are welcome.

Celebrate Harmony Week with the City of Subiaco at the Subi Night Markets! Wear your cultural attire and gather with friends and family for an evening under the stars. Embrace cultural diversity with a film screening, captivating lion dance performance, henna art, arts and crafts, Aboriginal face painting, games and prizes.
Pack a picnic, bring a mat or low chairs, and enjoy free popcorn—or purchase a delicious meal from the Subi Night Market stalls. Don’t miss this unforgettable night of community and culture!

Getting to the event: The Subi Night Market is located in Market Square Park, Corner of Roberts Rd and Haydn Bunton Dr, Subiaco
Subiaco train station right next door to the event site (2min walk). The train is on the Fremantle line.
