Treendale Farm Hotel in Australind has quickly become one of those โhow did we ever do a South West road trip without this?โ kind of stops. Affectionately known as โThe Farmโ, this huge, modern pub in the Treendale estate is designed with families in mind, combining great food, multiple play areas and a steady stream of kidsโ events that make it a destination in its own right rather than just a quick meal break.

From the road, the rustic brickwork and farmhouse-inspired design give the new build loads of character. Step inside and youโre greeted with a big, airy dining room that feels lively without being overwhelming.

The main restaurant area is open-plan, but what parents will really appreciate is the fully fenced and gated indoor play space set right alongside the tables. The jungle gym-style equipment is ideal for toddlers and younger children, and being indoors makes it a lifesaver on cold, wet or blustery South West days when Playground visits can otherwise be a gamble.

Out in the beer garden, families are spoilt for choice with not one but two additional play areas. One is a covered soft-play space that really suits crawlers and little toddlers who need something gentler underfoot and a bit more shade. The hero though is the main soft-fall Playground, which is also fully fenced and gated. Here kids can clamber aboard a boat, explore a wooden windmill-style fort, tackle the slide and firemanโs pole and generally run off some highway energy while you relax nearby. The lawn and outdoor seating create a relaxed, country-feel space where you can easily keep an eye on the kids while enjoying your meal or a drink.

Food-wise, Treendale Farm Hotel pitches itself as a modern family pub with classic favourites, big pizzas and plenty of new ideas. The menu includes all the usual pub suspects โ think steaks, hearty mains and pizzas โ but the quality is well above basic โpub grubโ. On our visit the pan-fried salmon was a standout and arrived beautifully cooked, while the steak and pizza both got big thumbs up from our table. Portions are generous, which suits hungry travellers and growing kids perfectly.

The childrenโs offering is particularly impressive. There are around ten kidsโ options on the menu, which is one of the largest kidsโ selections Iโve seen at a WA pub. That means thereโs usually something to suit even fussy eaters or those working around allergies and preferences, rather than the usual two or three choices. High chairs are available, thereโs a baby change area, and staff are clearly used to serving families โ you wonโt feel out of place rolling in with prams, nappy bags and an entourage of small humans.
As youโd expect from a venue this size, the drinks list is extensive. Adults can choose from plenty of wines and a huge range of beers, with around 48 taps including popular craft options from Margaret River and beyond. If youโre not drinking, there are still plenty of non-alcoholic options and itโs easy to settle in for a long lunch while the kids rotate between food and play.

One of the big drawcards that doesnโt come across in older write-ups is just how much is happening at Treendale Farm Hotel throughout the year. The โWhatโs Onโ calendar is packed with events that go well beyond sport on the big screens. There are regular family-focused days and school holiday programs featuring things like huge waterslides on the lawn, circus workshops and acrobatics, Bluey and Bingo discos, face painting, glitter tattoos, bouncy castles and creative easel-and-paint sessions. At Christmas time youโll often find Santa visits, Santa photos and festive craft activities, and there are also kidsโ Halloween parties and special family-friendly countdowns on big nights like New Yearโs Eve. Itโs worth checking the Whatโs On section of their website before you go, especially in school holidays, as you may be able to time your visit with one of these special days.
The pub is open seven days a week and the kitchen runs all day for both lunch and dinner, from 11am through to 9pm daily. Thatโs ideal for families who donโt always fit neatly into standard lunch or dinner slots, or if youโre breaking up a long drive at an off-peak time. Bookings can be made online, and the team asks that you include all children and high chairs in your booking numbers so they can seat you in the most suitable part of the venue. If youโre organising a large family catch-up or group event with more than 20 people, thereโs a dedicated functions team you can contact via the email listed on their site. Even if you forget to book, the hotel deliberately keeps plenty of space aside for walk-ins, which is reassuring if youโre travelling and not sure exactly when youโll arrive.
Beyond the main family restaurant and beer garden, Treendale Farm Hotel also incorporates TFH Sports Bar, where major sporting events are shown โlive and loudโ, and an on-site Cellarbrations Liquor Superstore with its own extended trading hours. Thereโs a separate takeaway ordering platform as well, handy for locals who want the Treendale food experience at home. For visiting families, though, the star of the show is still that combination of good food, friendly service, huge play options and a genuine commitment to putting on fun events for kids.

Overall, โThe Farmโ is one of those rare venues that manages to balance big-pub energy with thoughtful touches for families. The multiple fenced Playgrounds make it easy to relax, the all-day kitchen works around nap schedules and road-trip timing, and the evolving events calendar means thereโs nearly always something extra happening, especially in school holidays. If youโre heading to Bunbury, Busselton or further into the South West, Treendale Farm Hotel is well worth adding to your family-friendly stops.
