Kalamunda Trails

Skill Level โ€“ Easy to Extreme Trails

The Kalamunda network is WAโ€™s largest and busiest MTB Playground, with around 40km of trails to explore. The oneโ€‘way mountain bike trails are well signposted and offer everything from cruisy green routes to technical black runs.

Most of the easier trails start from the Trails hub, where youโ€™ll also find a cafรฉ for preโ€‘ or postโ€‘ride treats. Over at the Black Stump area thereโ€™s a pump track thatโ€™s great for kids and beginners to practice on.

Find Kalamunda Trails 361 Pauls Valley Road, Kalamunda.

The Goat Farm, Greenmount

Skill Level โ€“ Easy to Difficult

Perched on the scarp between Midland and Mundaring, The Goat Farm is a dedicated mountain bike park with something for everyone. Thereโ€™s a skills park and easier trails where kids can get a feel for riding offโ€‘road, plus steep, rocky descents that will challenge even experienced riders.

The terrain is no joke โ€“ some of the downhill lines really are best left to the โ€œmountain goatsโ€! The park has been designed for both downhill and crossโ€‘country riders, so you can choose how brave youโ€™re feeling on the day.

Find The Goat Farm just off Great Eastern Highway, via Greenmount Rise, Greenmount.

About 40 minutes north of Perth, Aduro Park in Allara, Eglinton, is a bright, compact MTB spot with clearly colourโ€‘coded beginner, intermediate and advanced loops โ€“ perfect for families with mixed skills. Little riders can start on the junior bike and scooter track with sealed โ€œroadsโ€ and traffic signs, set safely away from nearby streets.

Thereโ€™s plenty of parking at the Bayswater Boat Ramp, making it an easy afterโ€‘school or weekend option.

Munda Bidi, Mundaring

Starting right in Mundaring, close to the Sculpture Park Playground, the iconic Munda Bidi Trail stretches more than 1,000km all the way to Albany. While thatโ€™s a serious mission for seasoned riders, families can easily tackle biteโ€‘sized sections.

Popular options include a return ride from Mundaring to Mundaring Weir, or following the trail from Mundaring Weir through to the Kalamunda trail network. The scenery is classic jarrah forest, and you can make the ride as short or as long as your kidsโ€™ legs (and patience) allow.

Langford Park, Jarrahdale

Skill Level โ€“ Easy to Moderate Trails

Hidden among towering trees near Jarrahdale, Langford Park offers a network of trails that are especially fun in winter. The pea gravel tracks become grippier when wet, making for faster, more confidenceโ€‘boosting rides.

There are a mix of green and blue routes, so you can ease younger or newer riders in gently, then step things up as their skills improve. The forest setting also makes it a lovely spot for a postโ€‘ride picnic.

Forsyths Mill, Sawyers Valley

Skill Level โ€“ Intermediate Trail

Forsyths Mill is a compact XCโ€‘style loop packed into around 5km of trail, with logs, jumps, and flowing singletrack to keep riders entertained. Itโ€™s just off Great Eastern Highway and not too far from Lake Leschenaultia, so you can easily combine both in one day out.

Thereโ€™s also a much shorter beginnerโ€™s loop, giving newer riders a taste of the terrain before they commit to the full circuit.

Whatever your skill level โ€“ from balanceโ€‘bike bandits through to teens chasing air time โ€“ thereโ€™s a mountain bike trail in Perth to match. Pack plenty of water, sun protection, and snacks, and always ride to your ability. Most importantly, tread lightly: stick to marked trails, take all your rubbish home, and help keep our beautiful bush clean for the next family that rolls through.
