Beverley is a West Aussie country town in the Avon Valley where art meets history. It’s a surprising town, if you’ve never visited, so much is packed into a small place. Plus, there are a few fun family-friendly things to check out here. It’s well worth a stop and wander down the main street.
Here’s the things that you should check out:
Beverley Visitor Center
Beverley offers a mix of vibrant arts, rich history, and warm Avon Valley hospitality. When you first arrive, the Tourist Information Center should be your first stop. Friendly staff members will provide you with all the information you need to make the most of your visit. They can help you plan your itinerary, provide maps, and offer insights into the town’s history and attractions. It also has a few interactive exhibits about the town and its aviation connections.
Art and History Trails
As you wander through the streets of Beverley, you’ll discover surprises at every turn and down laneways! There are marvelous murals of sheep, echidnas, chickens, kangaroos and more, by renowned street artist, James Giddy. These colorful artworks adorn the exterior walls of many heritage buildings. Take your time to admire these and you may even notice the landscapes within each animal.
There’s also the historical Vincent Street Heritage Walk trail and a “Play trail” which points out interesting sites around town. This is via the “Play Trails” app.
Bakery
It’s not a true West Aussie country town without a bakery, and Beverly has a great spot to treat yourself to freshly baked goods! You won’t want to miss the local Beverly Bakehouse Cafe. It’s a beloved institution where you can indulge in delicious treats, from flaky pastries to mouthwatering meat pies. Locals and tourists alike flock to this bakery to satisfy their cravings for homemade scrolls, slices, sausage rolls – and good coffee. Why not take your goodies down the street to enjoy in the park?
