Ever fancied a crispy Korean corndog or authentic Tibetan beef momos? How about handmade Italian cannoli filled with custard? Well, you’ll find it all at one of Perth’s busiest street food markets! The Scarborough Sunset Markets are back for another summer season. The markets take place every Thursday from November to late April, along the Esplanade. As well as a yummy array of food trucks, these evening markets offer a wide selection of giftware to shop and live entertainment to savour!
The grassy amphitheater on the beach provides the perfect setting for a picnic or head over to Sunset Hill, near the Whale Playground. The atmosphere is vibrant, with live musicians and DJs adding to the buzz.
Each week, you’ll have a world of culinary options to choose from. Whether you’re in the mood for American BBQ, Italian wood-fired pizza, Asian bao, delectable tacos, Indonesian satay, Spanish paella, or more, you’ll be sure to find it here. For drinks, there’s coffee and juice vans on hand, as well as the licensed market bar. Discover what vendors are parking up there this week by visiting their website.
The kiddos are sure to love a sweet treat too – there’s plenty to chose from! Handmade chocolates, ice cream, fairy floss and more.
After you’ve had a bite to eat, be sure to browse the artisan stalls too. There’s a diverse range of sellers – you’ll find anything from jewellery and clothes to homewares and more.
Given the huge popularity of the markets, it’s advisable to arrive as early as possible to secure a parking spot. There is also paid public parking available underneath the Rendezvous Hotel. Public transportation is convenient, with buses making regular stops at Scarborough Beach’s foreshore.
Dogs are welcome, on a leash. They are not permitted on the beach. To be honest, the markets are so busy, I’d leave my dog at home. Whether you crave savoury delights or have a sweet tooth, the Scarborough Sunset Markets have something to satisfy everyone’s taste, and the best part is there are no dishes to wash up afterwards!
