Little Big School is a program that uses a holistic to help little ones develop their social, emotional, cognitive and physical development in preparation for starting school. They are set up to help children feel confident and independent is a learning-based environment so that they can use these skills when they make the big transition into school life.

Kindy and Pre-Primary is a big step for a lot of kids, for some it can be the first time they enter a setting with educators and unfamiliar children. When our kids start school, we want them to learn and have fun, and sometimes this can be over shadowed by those initial fears they have when mum and dad are not there to guide them.

Brie and Tess at Little Big School come from years of experience. With over a decade of experience between them as a Tertiary Qualified Teacher and Occupation Therapist, the team at Little Big School is there to help guide your children into a school-like environment.

They are currently running two programs: School Readiness and group tutoring.

I took my daughter (2.5 years old) to the School Readiness Program during their Ready Set School Holiday Trials. This program is aimed at children aged 2+ and focuses on social, emotional, physical, and academic readiness to help prepare them for their first year of formal schooling.

We started off with the parents sitting down with their kids and getting them settled in as Brie and Tess came around and introduced themselves. The kids then joined Tess as they started with some story time, and this was the queue for parents to step back and let the kids relax into the space. The ladies understood that all the kids would have different needs, and some would need longer to settle in. I stayed for story time until my daughter started physically acting out the animals and getting involved, and then I knew it was time for me to disappear while she was settled.

I then left my daughter as she participated in crafts, yoga, mindfulness exercises, and interactive learning games. Each session is filled with fun and exploration, creating a supporting environment for the children to grow and thrive. When I picked by daughter up she was thrilled to show me her certificate for completing the class, I had to remind her several times it was time to go as she just wanted to stay. As she left she rushed to give Brie and Tess a high five and asked to return to “schoolies” as she called it.

You can see the passion Brie and Tess have for Little Big School. If you have a little one you think may benefit from this program contact Little Big School for more info.
