Kingsway Markets are a relaxed, family‑friendly way to start your Saturday in Perth’s northern suburbs. Held at the Olympic Kingsway Soccer Clubrooms within the Kingsway Sporting Complex in Madeley, the markets run every Saturday morning from 8 am to 12pm. With plenty of free parking, flat paths and lots of open green space, it’s an easy, low‑stress outing with prams, scooters and kids of all ages.
A big part of the appeal is the fresh, local produce. You’ll usually find several fruit and vegetable stalls piled high with seasonal goods, much of it grown not far up the road. There are also options for meat and other pantry basics, making it a handy spot to stock up for the week while supporting small, local producers. Beyond the fresh food, there’s a changing line‑up of gourmet and artisan stalls – think cupcakes and baked treats, popcorn, honey, preserves, sauces and craft items – so there’s always something new to discover from week to week.
If you’d rather someone else take care of breakfast, Kingsway Markets are ideal. Classic community favourites like sausage sizzles and bacon and egg rolls are usually on offer, alongside fresh coffee, juices and other hot food choices. Some stalls cater to different dietary preferences, so it’s easy enough to find something for most family members. You can grab your food and sit at the tables and chairs set up on the grass, or bring along your own picnic rug or camp chairs to create a comfy base. Live music adds to the atmosphere, making it feel like a mini community festival each weekend.
For families, there’s plenty to keep children entertained. A small kiddie area is often set up with low tables and toys for little ones to enjoy, and there are regular kids’ activities, which change over time.
Being located within the Kingsway sporting complex is also a huge bonus: right nearby you’ll find a Playground, a dinosaur‑themed splash zone and a dinosaur Playground a little further on, so it’s easy to carry on the fun after you’ve finished at the markets.
The markets are also dog‑friendly, so well‑behaved dogs on leads are welcome to join you for a stroll around the stalls and a wander on the lush playing fields. You’ll often see stalls selling pet treats and accessories, making it a fun morning out for furry family members as well. There are public toilets on site, and the whole area is generally pram‑friendly and easy to navigate. While many stallholders now offer card facilities, it’s still a good idea to bring some cash, as there is no ATM on site and a few smaller stalls may be cash‑only.
With a welcoming community feel, plenty of food and coffee choices, changing stallholders and lots for the kids to do nearby, Kingsway Markets are a lovely, low‑key way to ease into the weekend. Whether you’re popping in for a quick breakfast and browse, or turning it into a full morning with a visit to the nearby Playground and splash area, it’s well worth adding to your family’s Saturday rotation.
