Need the perfect pit stop at Kent Street Weir Precinct? Head to Canning River Cafe for your next playdate.
If you’re heading to the mega play space at the Kent Street Weir Precinct, pop across to the Canning River Cafe, which is one of my own go-to coffee spots. This is one of those spots where you can let the kids loose on the playground, then reward yourself with a large flat white and a bite to eat afterwards.
The cafe sits directly opposite the play space, so logistics here are simple. Outside, casual dining only adds to the relaxed vibe. Canning River Cafe is a place where you don’t have to stress about the kids being kids. The cafe has plenty of highchairs and there’s a kids menu too.
To keep little hands busy at the table, there are colouring sheets and kids books available.
Coffee is done well here. They use the quality Margaret River Coffee Co roast, and it shows.
On our visit we grabbed a warmed GF banana bread and a croissant with ham and cheese to go from the grab and go cabinet.
Both were great, and the cabinet itself had a really good selection of fresh sweet and savoury options to choose from. Well worth a browse before you decide.
What impressed me is their gluten free range. The amount of GF options here is one of the best I’ve come across in Perth – and that’s not something I say lightly. For families navigating coeliac needs, this cafe is a really solid find. We’ve also had brunch here in the past, which was fab, so it’s worth making a morning of it.
Between the mega playground and the Canning River Cafe right opposite, plus a pump track, nature walks and the mini railway, the Kent Street Weir Precinct is shaping up to be a brilliant all-day family destination. Pop it on the list – it’s a good one.
