There’s nothing quite like an icecream on a family day out – and Dayzies Icecream & Cafe in York is a great spot for it, when you’re exploring the historic Avon Valley town. Right on the main street (near the York Motor Museum), it’s hard to miss.
Dayzies serves up Simmos icecreams in cones or easy to eat tubs – all the classics like bubble gum and cookies & cream, plus sweet fruity sorbets and Simmos staples. The staff are friendly and let the kids browse the flavours while they’re deciding. If you’re after something more substantial, there’s plenty to choose from – coffee, milkshakes, sandwiches, paninis, waffles, hot dogs, hot beef & gravy rolls, toasties, pancakes… the list goes on.
You can eat inside or grab a spot on the footpath, which is nice for watching the world go by in this country town.
JMan’s eye was caught by the Biscoff flavour (and it looked delish), while Lulu went classic with cookies & cream in a tub – easier to manage while wandering around.
They scoffed the lot as we made our way over to Avon Park.
The playground is brilliant for burning off that sugar rush, with a flying fox that the kids raced on for ages. It’s the perfect combo – a little treat, a wander around town, and then space for them to run wild.
If you’re heading to York, Dayzies definitely deserves a stop. It’s easy to park nearby, grab an ice-cream, and let the kids work off the sugar at Avon Park.
