RAC Busselton Holiday Park, set on around eight hectares of natural bushland, feels spacious and peaceful from the moment you arrive. The sites are generous and grassy, dotted with shady peppermint trees, and there’s a sealed internal road looping around the park. This makes it perfect for kids to safely cruise around on their scooters and bikes, with plenty of space between sites so it never feels cramped.
The holiday park sits just off Caves Road, around a 10-minute drive from Busselton town centre and an easy drive to Dunsborough and Margaret River. A pathway leads from the park down to the shores of Geographe Bay. You do need to cross a busy road, but once you’re on the other side you’re rewarded with a beautiful, quiet stretch of beach. The water here is typically shallow with gentle waves, which is ideal for younger children who like to paddle and play.
Accommodation options cover everything from simple camping to fully self-contained cabins. If you’d like to keep the camping vibe but add some comfort, the ensuite powered sites are a standout. Each ensuite site comes with its own lockable bathroom, including a toilet and shower, which is a huge bonus when you’re travelling with toddlers or don’t fancy late‑night dashes to the ablution block.
For those who prefer not to camp at all, there’s a range of cabins and studio-style rooms with kitchens or kitchenettes, air-conditioning and separate bedrooms, perfect for families or couples wanting a bit more luxury.
Facilities across the park are very family-focused and impressively maintained. There are multiple clean ablution blocks, a large, well-equipped camp kitchen with stovetops, fridges and microwaves, and plenty of BBQs dotted around the grounds – some with sinks for easy clean-up. A guest laundry, dump points for caravans and motorhomes, free Wi‑Fi in the common areas and even electric vehicle charging add to the convenience for modern travellers.
Kids will have no trouble filling their days without leaving the park. There are two resort-style swimming pools, both fully fenced and gated. One pool is heated all year round, while the other stays refreshingly cool, so families can swap between the two. Sun loungers and grassy areas shaded by mature trees.
On dry land, the play options are just as good. Younger children can explore the shaded sand-based Playground with slides, monkey bars and swings, or challenge themselves in the nature play area, which includes logs, bridges and balancing beams.
The huge, shaded jumping pillow is always busy and is fenced for peace of mind.
Older kids and teens are well catered for too, with a volleyball net, basketball area, football goals and a big open grassed section for cricket or a kick of the footy.
Over near the large lake you’ll also find a BMX-style bike track, giving energetic kids a place to really burn off steam.
The lake itself is a lovely feature of the park. It’s home to visiting birdlife and other wildlife, and there are spots around the edge that are perfect for a quiet wander or picnic. It’s not suitable for swimming, so little ones do need to be supervised, but it adds a very tranquil backdrop to the park, especially at sunrise and sunset.
For even more family fun, there’s a 9‑hole mini golf course, outdoor table tennis and a recreation room. The games room is kitted out with pool tables, foosball, table tennis and TVs for gaming, making it a great hangout on cooler evenings or if the weather turns.
Pedal karts are available to hire too, which are always a big hit with kids. Do note that bikes and scooters are welcome around the park, but helmets are a must and staff do enforce this rule.
One of the nicest places for parents to unwind is the main camp kitchen and dining zone, which opens onto an alfresco area overlooking the grassy play space, Playground and jumping pillow. You can cook, sit back with a drink and still keep the kids in view as they run around with new holiday friends, which gives the whole park a very relaxed, community feel.
RAC Busselton Holiday Park is also set up to suit a variety of travellers. There are powered and unpowered campsites, larger sites for big rigs, and a selection of pet‑friendly powered sites so furry family members can come along too. Policies can change, so it’s worth checking the current pet guidelines when you book. RAC members receive discounted rates on accommodation when booking direct, which can make a real difference on longer stays or during peak periods.
With its combination of bushland setting, resort-style facilities, easy beach access and proximity to Busselton, Dunsborough and Margaret River, RAC Busselton Holiday Park is an excellent base for a South West family holiday.
