Disneyโs Beauty and the Beast the Musical has waltzed into Perth, and itโs absolutely breathtaking. From the moment the orchestra swells, youโre transported into an enchanted world full of wonder, surprises, and those big โwowโ moments that make live theatre unforgettable.
The staging and special effects will blow you away โ there were so many times we leaned over and whispered, โHow did they do that?!โ From magical transformations to spellbinding set changes, it feels like true Disney magic unfolding right in front of your eyes.
And can we take a moment to talk about the costumes? Every detail, from Belleโs golden ball gown to the rich textures of the enchanted household objects, is stunning on stage.

Highlights of the Show
- Be Our Guest โ this is the number everyone will be talking about! Itโs spectacular, colourful, over-the-top, and honestly feels like a grand finale in itself. The kids (and grown-ups!) were clapping and cheering along.
- Special Effects โ the Beastโs transformation, magical set changes, even the way the castle comes to life will leave you wondering how itโs even possible.
- Characters โ Belle is smart and strong, Beast has both roar and heart, and Lumiere and Cogsworth bring the laughs. Mrs Potts and Chip are simply adorable.
There are some darker and slightly scarier scenes featuring the wolves, which might be a bit intense for very young children โ so just something to keep in mind if youโre bringing little ones.

One of the loveliest surprises was the audience itself. The theatre was filled with little princesses dressed in Belle gowns, adding an extra sparkle to the atmosphere. Booster seats are available, which makes the experience so much more enjoyable for younger children.
A fun insider tip: after the performance, head to the front of the stage and peek into the musical pit. The conductor and musicians are often happy to chat with curious little ones (and big kids too!), and the conductor is super friendly โ answering questions and showing kids just how much work goes on behind the magic. Itโs a brilliant way to round out the experience.
A Special Upcoming Performance โ The Relaxed Session
While every show sparkles with Disney magic, the Perth season includes something truly unique: a Relaxed Performance on Sunday, 21st September at 12:30 PM.
Partnering with Aspect (Autism Spectrum Australia) and the Autism Association of WA, Disney has adapted this performance to ensure children, families, and individuals who may need different levels of support can enjoy it to the fullest.
What makes it different?
- Families are free to move around, fidget, use noise-cancelling headphones, or make sounds during the show.
- Theatre announcements will be switched off for the day, and lighting and sound effects adjusted to be gentler.
- Visual stories will be available to walk kids through the experience.
- A short pre-show welcome by disability advocate Chloe Hayden will explain exciting effects (like Lumiereโs real flames) in a friendly, non-scary way.
- Quiet rooms and quiet spaces will be open and staffed throughout, with plenty of volunteers around to help.
- Cast and crew have made small changes to reduce surprises and allow for gentle โpre-warningsโ before big or potentially overwhelming moments.
This thoughtful approach ensures no child or parent has to miss out on the magic of live theatre.

Buggybuddys Family Tips
- Best for kids aged 6+. Younger ones are welcome, but the wolves and long runtime might be a challenge.
- The show runs about 2.5 hours with a 20-minute intermission (perfect for snacks and bathroom breaks).
- Snacks and Disney merch are available.
- Pack comfort items (headphones, fidgets) if your child is sensory-sensitive.
- Dress-ups are encouraged! Little Belles and even Beasts will feel right at home.
- Donโt miss visiting the orchestra pit afterwards โ kids LOVE seeing the musicians up close.
Final Verdict
We absolutely loved Beauty and the Beast the Musical. Itโs dazzling, funny, heartfelt, and packed with moments that will stick with you long after the curtain falls. A real โwowโ experience for the whole family โ and we 100% recommend it to Perth families of all ages.
โจ Itโs not just a show โ itโs a memory-making experience.
