If you’re searching for a family‑friendly spot that combines good food, a relaxed vibe, and loads of fun for the kids, The Ponds Bistro in Baldivis is definitely worth a visit. Created by the team behind King Road Brewing Co. (Perth’s Family‑Run Brewery & Venue of the Year 2024), this place nails the perfect mix of food, drinks, play, and atmosphere.
The kids made a beeline straight for the playground, and it’s not your typical setup. The main attraction is an old ship that’s said to be haunted by Captain Skullbeard and his skeleton crew. The ghost‑ship theme gave the kids a thrill, and they loved climbing, swinging, and sliding their way across the deck.
Just watch out for those skeletons lurking around!
Add in a jumping castle, and you can imagine how quickly they burnt off their energy.
While the kids were happily entertained, we grabbed some drinks and a bowl of hot chips. The serving size was enormous, a mountain of golden, crispy goodness that easily kept us all going!
Adding to the fun were the roaming peacocks, casually strutting around with their colourful feathers on full display. The kids were fascinated, and I loved that it gave the place such a unique feel. We also spotted a few local kids fishing by the ponds, which added a lovely, laid‑back, community vibe.
Inside, there’s plenty of seating with highchairs available for the little ones. Families will love the colouring‑in sheets and the range of outdoor garden games the kids can take outside to play.
For the grown‑ups, there are big screens showing the footy, plus pool tables and dart boards, though those are probably best left to the adults.
There’s always something happening at The Ponds Bistro. They run weekly specials, including the popular Friday Steak Sand ich + Pint for $36, a perfect way to end the week. During the school holidays, they also host kids’ workshops, which I know my crew would absolutely love. Walk‑ins are welcome, or you can jump on their Facebook page to book a table.
