Scoops Farm in Margaret River is the new kid on the block, but it sure has made itself known. The story behind it is beautiful. It’s owned by a local family who already owned a baby shop in the town centre. They purchased the farm so that their three boys could grow up and enjoy their parents’ ice Creamery and Petting Zoo. It’s owned by a family and made for families, and I love that.
Scoops Farm is situated on the old Sunflower Farm site so it may look familiar at first, however, they have made it their own and are continuing to add to it thanks to its successful start. Having opened in January 2024 they have had a busy with locals and tourists.
As you enter the car park, you’ll see the entrance at the front, which also hosts their 32 delicious ice cream flavours. Serving Mai Tardi Gelato, another local family-owned business, as well as barista coffees, with plans for their menu options to expand.
Take your treats through to great their adorable animals. There are a few seating options by the entrance and further into the petting zoo but also plenty of space to throw down a picnic blanket.
There is also the option to buy animal feed for $5 to feed any of the animals that want a feed, which is likely to be most of them as they are a friendly bunch! With Cows, Calves, Goats, Alpacas, Chickens, Guineafowls and Guinea Pigs, there are enough animals to go around. It’s a great spot, especially for smaller kids, as sometimes (like my daughter) they may feel overwhelmed by large petting zoos, or they only want to see one animal. My daughter spent about 1.5 hours feeding and watching the Guinea Pigs I couldn’t pull her away!
In the same way its also great for kids that want to run around and do their own thing as you can sit just outside the entrance on the veranda and have an easy view of your children. There is a wooden climbing structure and slide, monkey bars, cubby house, stepping stones and toy diggers. The climbing frame and slide are a little tricky so kids under three may need a bit of help. My daughter loved playing in the cubby pretending it was a shop.
If you’re after a more relaxed activity when down south or even just want to get a coffee or treat with the kids and relax and play with the animals, this is a great spot. Keep up to date with their Instagram to see all the changes they are making, and add this one to your list.
